We’re looking for a friendly helper to join our hostel team in beautiful Nelson, New Zealand! Help with cleaning for around 2.5 hours a day, with one day off each week to explore the region. Cleaning work is around up to 2.5 hours a day with one day off a week to explore our beautiful region. We say minimum stay is 3 weeks but most stay a lot longer (sometimes many months) and now you get to keep a cool TBB Team T-shirt when you do!). In return for your work you get accommodation, breakfast & every night we serve up hot chocolate pudding and ice cream. Also free use of washing machine & free unlimited 24 hr wifi. Every week we have a shared lunch - usually home-made vege soup & bread and $ towards a shared meal with others doing a similar role. And sometimes the use of sauna/cold plunge.
Tasks will be mainly helping to clean the hostel, but might also be gardening, painting, maintenance, etc..... there's always lots to do depending on your strengths and interests.
We extra value people that are very keen, enthusiastic, and love to help out in any way to give our guests the best experience they can get.
The atmosphere at the hostel is very friendly, warm (log fire and 5 new heat pumps) and caring. Good music (either ours or guests playing the guitars and/or ukuleles), lots of books and magazines and games. We encourage a social/off-line hour every night after chocolate pudding is served and there are always guests playing games, being creative and making music. We are a 5 to 10 minutes walk from town. Which for a small town has a lot going on - weekly markets, arts & crafts, music and theatre.
In your time off there is so much to do - the sea, mountains, markets and always lots of evening work available in the cafes and bars. The most important thing to us is that you enjoy being part of our TBB Team and hopefully enjoy the work too.
