Program Details

Kaaya is a mud-built rural learning campus in Tilwari village, at the foothills of the Himalayas near Dehradun. Our nature café welcomes city visitors and travellers, and its earnings help sustain our team, many of whom come from the surrounding villages, and our community work. We're now renovating the café and need volunteers with practical, multi-purpose technical skills. You'll work alongside our local team, sharing what you know and learning local ways of building with natural materials. We see Kaaya as a place that is still learning, so we welcome your ideas as much as your hands.

Activities & Shift

4 hours a day with 1 day off a week. Work usually happens in two shifts: late morning and early evening. Tasks depend on your skills and what the café needs, and may include:
- Construction and masonry repairs
- Carpentry: fixing and building furniture, shelves and outdoor seating
- Basic plumbing and electrical fixes
- General maintenance and repairs around the café and campus
We'll plan tasks with you when you arrive.
