This was an unforgettable experience. My host family was amazing and I felt so immersed in the project. This was my first time in Africa and I'm so glad I had this opportunity. Working with kids and teaching them English and playing soccer is an experience I'll never forget. The coordinator did a great job at giving us different activities to do while we were there and helping us having a proper experience of the project.

I did this the project through the project in Yayem, the project it was an amazing experience. Mouhamadou coordinated everything well, balancing work and fun. My job was teaching children English and organizing games and activities, plus lots of football. Weekends were free, and volunteers planned excursions together. Everyone in the project was kind and hospitable, especially my host family. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to experience rich Senegalese the project. Unforgettable!

Regarding the host family, I had a wonderful experience. From the very first day, they welcomed me as one of the family and made me feel part of the community. They even adapted my meals despite not knowing I was coeliac, as this information had apparently not been passed on by the coordinator.

However, I cannot say the same about the organization. Communication was lacking, especially regarding schedules, materials we should bring, and, above all, the Dakar excursion, which I would not recommend at all.

Working with the children and living with my wonderful host family made this experience unforgettable. However, the organization was extremely poor. I received almost no information before arriving, the local coordinator didn't speak English and spent lessons on his phone. I only discovered later that many children spoke only Wolof, making teaching impossible. The Dakar weekend was also a scam: paid activities never happened, the "guide" only took us to scam markets, and the promised hotel was replaced by a filthy, windowless one. I recommend the project, but not this organization.

Great experience with the project. Would definitely agree that it is complete cultural the project. Both the community and family were unbelievable. Mohamadou lives in the USA, and organised from abroad. Having said this, he can find a good position that suits each volunteer. Thank you for the experience!

I spent three weeks in Fimela and the host family was the highlight of my stay. They welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home, sharing their daily life and the project. Another very special part was the time with the kids: around 15-25 children full of energy and joy. We painted, danced, played and laughed together every day, and those moments gave me so much in return. Living simply, close to nature and surrounded by such people, made this a truly meaningful experience.

Volunteering at Centre Xam-Xamle in Fimela has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The host family was incredibly welcoming, caring, and reliable. From the very beginning, I felt very safe and loved. At the school, I participated in the Summer Camp, which included 3 hours in the morning with the younger kids (ages 4-12), and 2 hours in the afternoon with the older ones (ages 12-16). We did French and art in the morning, and English and Spanish in the afternoon. The students are wonderful, eager to learn and full of joy. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to everyone!

Supporting the AMFE organization in Agnam, the project, was a wonderful challenge. However, volunteers must be aware of the risks and prepare for them. I recommend always being transparent about the challenges of being in such remote places with many unmet basic needs and vast cultural differences. Always have a well-prepared risk map with the support of your host. This will help you know what you should pack, how much money you'll spend monthly, and what safety measures you should take to protect your health.

I had an issue and couldn't make it to the project. I informed Mohamadou more than month in advance, and he kept assuring me from the very beginning that I would be refunded. At first, he said it would take a few days, then a few weeks, then by the end of the week… and now, I've had no news at all. He promised I'd get my money back, but my messages are no longer opened or read. I haven't heard anything since. It's really disappointing that it's come to this. In the very first email, it was clearly stated that in case of any issue, a refund would be provided, don't believe that. Be careful.
