I had a great experience with Hardi and his family. I spent 2 weeks in Temanggung and I was able to get to know their way of living, from agriculture to social settings and festives. Every day was full of activities when we wanted to, but Hardi is also very flexible with guests and their other commitments. If you are looking for a place where you can get in touch with locals, have adventures climbing volcanos, see beautiful nature, and participate in events like tabaco celebration or village fishing competition, don't hesitate to visit Hardi in Temanggug :))

I had a wonderful 11days with Hardy and his family. He is a really interesting guy and full of knowledge. I got to really see places I wouldn’t have had the chance to without him. We went to many different villages and got a real experience of local life, we went hiking… through the paddy’s, and different areas to coffee and tobacco fields, a waterfall. We did bamboo basket making with locals, batik, learnt about the process of coffee and tobacco, sunrise. And many other things. The meal by Diah in the evening was always delicious. I had a really authentic time being here and defo recommend 😁

The project is very diverse, I gained a lot
of different experiences during my stay. Hardy keeps a nice schedule with work every other day and taught me a lot about nature and sustainability, always over coffee and a cigarette. On days off, we visited beautiful places around Temanggung, explored the town, met friends and family, learned about batik, and I even celebrated Eid al-Fitr. Hardy loves sharing his knowledge, leading to interesting conversations and many valuable learning experiences and Diah cooks delicious meals every day. Thank you, Hardy and Diah, for your hospitality.

Hardi's project is fabulous. While staying with him, he ensured to give me a full local experience by both encouraging me to interact with locals for my own needs as well as making me visit natural sites all around the Temanggung regency on a daily basis, allowing me to see for myself the need of sustainability. Beyond the amazing experience, Hardy, as a host, with his knowledge, wisdom, openness and love of his Javanese heritage, made my whole stay much more memorable. You will get to experience Diah's incredible home cooked food every night & live in the comfort of their home. I came for two weeks and now... who knows? This place is pure magic! Hardi & Diah have built something special and have shown me comfort, insanely beautiful natural gems, great food, and more knowledge about Indonesia's history & society, as well as the promotion of sustainability within local communities. Hardi's progressive mindset & adaptability make every day an adventure, even when we just sit, chat, & smoke all day. I feel I've learnt a year's worth of knowledge in just 2 weeks. By the end of this stay, I'll be 1 step closer to a pro photographer & 2 steps closer to a heavy smoker!
