The Experience

Expect to work around 25 hours per week. At our small hostel you're expected to wear all hats. This can be a mixture of duties from front desk and guest services to cleaning the hostel. We only want vols who want to participate in our famous social atmosphere. All volunteers will lead at least one night night per week. Our hostel has won the Hoscar for Best in the US twice. Auberge NOLA is an amazing place! It was my first volunteering and I am totally happy and grateful for all the hospitality from Lucy and Robert. I felt very welcome from the first moment, the job was only two days so there was plenty of time to go around the city, the parties with the guests were always very fun and you can make great friends too. New Orleans really surprised me! I definitely want to go back! I totally recommend volunteering here!

I arrived in a windowless dorm with 3 other staff members showing obvious covid symptoms. However, they claimed it was just an allergy. One week later, the new volunteers, including me, tested positive on covid. We were allowed to isolate for a short time, but then, they made us work and have contact with guests, while still being positive. We were not allowed to tell anyone that we (and guests) tested positive so that they could isolate and get tested. Also, hosts are not present. Hostel is completely run by volunteers. Communication via Facebook messenger only.

Lucy and Robert were very welcoming and hospitable! It was a great balance of work which they don’t ask a lot of you, fun, and exploring the city. They gave great recommendations on what to do and where to go. Awesome culture and atmosphere. Leaving there I felt like I’m a local. The hostel is very clean and my coworkers were awesome. I’d definitely recommend and I’ll for sure come back! Volunteer here and you won’t regret it!

I can highly recommend this place for other travelers! I felt really welcomed at the hostel and I met amazing people from all over the world. The tasks are pretty easy and you've a lot of free time to explore the city. You'll organize some events and partying with the guest which was soo much fun! New Orleans is a cool city, the nightlife is great. The owners Lucy and Robert are amazing people,I'll be back to visit for sure:) thanks for the great time!
