I had a very nice experience in Arusha with James and his family. At the school it is arranged for you to take responsibility for how much you want to interact, and you get the opportunity to choose a lot yourself. I taught grades 5 and 6 and the kids were super happy, clever and greatful. At weekends there is an opportunity to explore more, here too it is important that you take responsibility yourself and make things happen. Would recommend the waterfall and to da safari! Arush is a nice city and everyone is very welcoming!

We stayed with the Kissiri family for 10 days. They made our stay really nice and comfortable. We were having breakfast around 8, then we were going to the school until 12. Coming back home to have lunch and the rest of the day, he had free time until dinner time around 8pm. We enjoyed our time in the school, the kids are really polite, patient and happy. From our experience, we recommend it to anyone who wants to have a full experience of living in in a Tanzanian environment and get the chance to help in a local school. Asante sana 🙏🏻

What a wholesome and culturally-rich experience. I cannot recommend this enough. I have completed many volunteering roles before and this was my favourite. The impact you have on the lovely children is so rewarding. Everyday I taught a class in the school and in my spare time I went to orphanages and helped out in the community library and helped raise funds on social media. The host family is amazing and really supports you. I loved the school and the children were so appreciative and eager to learn. Feel free to message me with any qs! If you are thinking about doing it, just do it! :)

I stayed for almost two weeks with the family and I loved it! It was my first experience with worldpackers and I felt really like home. James and his family treated the volunteers like family members. There was not so much to do on the farm so it was flexible to help out at the library with the children. I really recommend this stay to learn more about the life in Arusha ❤️

Thank you Kissiri family for being a family with such great moral values and welcoming volunteers from all over the world as part of your family. I strongly believe that you can only give to others if you feel safe and cared in first place. And this family allowed me to have the emotional and physical well-being necessary to put my skills in service of others. I really loved the experience of helping students in the primary school and also in the community library. I was really open to give but I in the end I receive as doble! From everyone. the project is really a great country to live!

This was my first volonteering experience and I would definetly recommend it to everyone. The host family is amazing and will make you feel welcomed as soon as you land. You get to imerge in the culture and learn from the locals, from the food to the language this is the best way to truely experience any country. You get to spend your days in the school with the kids and in the afternoons have fun at town. You will not regret it!

The Kissiri family is lovely, they welcomed me warmly from the first day. James is a spectacular host, it's clear that he has experience with volunteeers and I felt safe from the first day. He cares a lot about making you feel comfortable. The facilities are great and so is the food. I miss chapati already :( I just hope to be able to visit you again as soon as possible. I have lived a dream and I am grateful about it!

Thank you so much to the Kissiri family. Thank you for allowing us to come into your home and treating us like family. This was the best experience. I learnt so much, and had a lot of fun. I was helping on the farm, learning some new gardening skills, learning many Tanzanian dishes, and also learning about other cultures from the other international volunteers staying. If you have any questions about the experience, feel free to message :) One thing to future volunteers: you are here to help! Please try to help in every way possible!!! I am desperate to return, and I definitely will ♡
