It's the third time I volunteered in a hostel and and I can honestly say that it's the best place you can volunteer at. The work is really easy and the hostel feels very homely, it's chill and social at the same time. There is plenty of time to visit Vienna.
The most amazing thing here is obviously the friendships with the other volunteers. We hang out together a lot ! I'm also very grateful to all the staff and Monika in particular, who was so sweet with me and flexible.
All I can say is thank you, thank you so much to all these amazing people !

It was truly an extraordinary experience. They provide everything a volunteer (working traveler*) needs to feel safe and comfortable, to be themselves, and to do whatever they want. I just want to thank the entire the hostel team for everything they've done and for making me feel right at home. Thanks for these 2 amazing months and i'll be back ( eventually 😅).

Even though this was my first volunteering experience, i doubt any other experience could match how incredible this one was. The friendly staff, the beautiful hostel, the flexibility to organize your time, the athmosphere everyday… everything was perfect and i felt at home all the time. If there are any regrets, in this hostel is only not having stayed more time… I loved hostel Ruthenstainer!! It will always be my home in Vienna ♥️😭

I'm so thankful for my time at the hostel! I extended my stay several times. They have an amazing community; I made so many friends. Other volunteers and staff were amazing. They all da great job of making you feel at home. Communication from management could be improved, but that is my only minor complaint. The work was extremely fair (probably easier than in most other hostels!). The current scheduling system is very clear while still being mostly flexible. You have a lot of time to explore the city and to go on short trips. I will miss the hostel and the people I met there forever!

My time at the hostel was one of the happiest times I've had in a while. The work and travel program is well-organized and fair. You work helping at breakfast, reception during the night, activities with guests or helping the cleaning staff; the hours were always respected and a compensation is given at the end of the month :) The vibe in this place is magic and it quickly turns into a home you look forward to returning to. Truly the best part is the relations you build with other volunteers, staff and guests. Shoutout to our incredible managers Monika, Felipe and Juan! A true hidden gem

My experience at the hostel was better than I could have imagined! The community there including the fellow volunteers and staff made the time so special and the place feel like home. Hours and volunteer shifts are clearly planned in advance for the month and leave plenty of time to explore Vienna and even take short trips to nearby cities. I would recommend this experience!
