I spent four amazing weeks at the farm and it became one of my most memorable experiences of my travels. Rodrigo was a welcoming and generous host who trusted me with lots of responsibility, especially with the horses, and really made me feel part of the hacienda. I loved working alongside Escequiel and spending my days caring for, handling and riding the horses. Verónica was incredibly kind and made me feel so cared for and welcome. I originally planned to stay two weeks but extended to four, which says it all! I'm leaving with amazing memories and will especially miss Silhouette

I had a good time at the ranch! For the first week I was the only volunteer, which was a little bit lonely but once another volunteer arrived, things got a lot more enjoyable. The ranch staff are incredibly friendly and try to strike up a conversation. It does help to be able to speak or understand a bit of Spanish, as the people you spend most of the day with don't speak English. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and at the weekend there's time for your own activities. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of travelling and spend some time in nature, this is it!

I had an amazing time here! Rodrigo was such a kind host and went out of his way to help when needed. Worked primarily with Ezekiel who was very sweet and we got to ride the horses a lot! It is quite remote so just make sure you know that before coming but I really enjoyed being able to disconnect and really be with nature and horses! Have you weekends off to so you are able to explore lots!!

I had a great three weeks volunteering at the farm. I worked mostly with Ezequiel, who is soo nice and made the work really enjoyable. Tasks included getting the horses from the pastures in the morning, feeding them, working them either on the lunge or under the saddle and fencing off new fields every couple of days. Occasionally there were task not related to horses such as assisting with the cattle or sowing the fields. Hacking out in the beautiful Ecuadorian countryside was a huge highlight. Working hours were usually from 7:30 am to 4pm with a lunch break.

Philipp, thank you so much for your help. Your reports on each horse were spectacular. I'm sorry about my health issue and that I couldn't travel, though I'm now about 90% back. You can come back anytime; you're welcome.

This experience was truly incredible both socially and culturally and in terms of the connection with animals and learning! We worked mainly with Ezequiel who is the most adorable person, always positive, full of resources and always ready to learn from those who know more than him! It was really a pleasure to work with him. For the rest of the people who work here it is rather similar, always extremely kind, attentive and available in case of problems! The place itself is already incredible but it is mainly thanks to the people who work there that it is also pleasant to stay there!

We spent an amazing month at Pambasinchi! We really felt at home, the people working there were really friendly, a special thank you to Veronicà, Franklin and Ezequiel who were really nice to us ! The working hours were really chill and the horses adorable. Just keep in mind that the people working at the hacienda only speak Spanish, so a minimum of Spanish knowledge might be useful :)
Otherwise I recommend this experience to anyone who would want to be close to nature and discover the equatorial culture !

I spent a month volunteering at this horse ranch and had mixed impressions. The people were very friendly, and the riding was a big highlight. However, the organization was poor — tasks were often unclear, with lots of waiting, and working hours were longer than expected (around 7:30 am to 3:30 pm). Food was limited (mostly just milk, later some vegetables and eggs), communication about arrival could be better, and there's no phone service or WiFi.

Lena was not exactly the most energetic.
It was difficult for her to spontaneously offer her help. In the hacienda, long distances are covered and you need to be in good physical shape to do it.
Her lack of Spanish made communication extremely difficult. The WiFi service has always been active. We clearly specify that we offer only fruit, bread, eggs, and milk for breakfast; the rest of the food is the responsibility of each volunteer.

I really enjoyed my stay at the farm. I met incredible people from all over the world and the locals were just so kind and giving. I really felt at home. The work was harder than I expected especially because of all the walking that was needed to change the horses of fields, but it was so fulfilling. We had a little issue with our beds but otherwise everything was perfect. The horses were great too. I really recommend this place if you like to walk, meet new people, want to learn spanish, know how to ride horses and are open-minded. This experience will leave you speechless!

I worked for Alejandro, a friend of Rodrigo. He is very lovely, generous and experienced with horses. I was training his 8 horses for two weeks. I had my own room and bathroom. If you are willing to work and are a very good and experienced rider - this is a truly great place. If you are rather looking for a "chill place" to just have a good time with horses - you'd better look somewhere else! Alejandro has a lot of energy and showed me around in Quito and the riding clubs during my stay with him. I have had a very good time at his place and can recommend him to good riders by heart ❤️

Hi Eva,

I'm sorry I couldn't meet you, but I always made sure that you were well with Alejo. The French girls are not part of any platform; Alejo told me that they are lazy and inexperienced. It was Alejo's obligation to force them to work or leave the place, in fact I told him more than once, but he, out of his good heart, did not do it.
On behalf of Alejo, I thank you very much for your help; he was very happy to receive you. You can come back whenever you want, it will be a pleasure.

I had a great time at the farm ! The team working there was very lovely and took care of us as volunteers, especially Franklin and Veronica. I learned a lot on horses, however we were unlucky because of the strikes Rodrigo wasn't able to come as much as he wanted. The job is very physical, it's about 8h/day, and we didn't get to ride horses a lot (+/- twice a week) so it can be a bit frustrating if you want to ride a lot. I also went to Alejandro's house and had a lovely time there riding horses and learning from him.

Hello Louisa,
Thank you for your help at the hacienda. I enjoyed meeting you and sharing more, but the circumstances of the paro were terrifying, we lost a lot of money but finally we got through it.
I hope there is a next opportunity, you will always be welcome.
Best regards,
Rodrigo
