Position Description – Live-in Family Helper (Cultural Exchange)

We are looking for a female volunteer to support our family with light daily household tasks. Responsibilities include cleaning the house, doing laundry, washing dishes, cleaning the stove, and helping with general home organization.

The commitment is approximately "3 hours per day", with the main goal of assisting my mother so she does not have to manage all household duties alone.

This is a cultural exchange opportunity within a traditional Albanian family. You will live in a warm and welcoming environment, experience authentic daily life, practice the language, and learn about local customs. While my mother speaks limited English, communication is always possible and creates a meaningful opportunity for shared learning.

This role is ideal for someone open-minded, respectful, and interested in genuine cultural immersion while contributing to family life.

Activities & Shift

You will help my mother 3 hours per day, 5 days per week, with 2 days off each week. We prefer the tasks to be done in the morning, so you will have the rest of the day free to explore, relax, or enjoy the area as you wish.

In Albania, cash is the most commonly used payment method, and the local currency is the Albanian Lek (ALL). The official language is Albanian.

From Elbasan, you can easily take buses to explore beautiful beaches and other cities. There are several small markets nearby within walking distance, as well as nature trails in the region for those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Rules

Just common rules: clean after yourself and don't make too much noise after 11 pm. You will have access to a kitchen to prepare your own meals and a refrigerator to store your food and personal items comfortably.
