The Experience

As a meditation retreat center we rely on volunteer support for all our operations, and we would be happy for you to join us. Typically, your responsibilities will be in housekeeping, garden/grounds, or the kitchen (sometimes all three), although you may also help run programs. All staff help with dishes. As part of our community, you will have unparalleled access to our teachers, and may participate in most programs, space and time permitting.

The Center is such a quaint little place with some of the kindest and most diligent folk you can find. I highly recommend this experience to anyone with kitchen experience that may be looking for a place to begin or further their study of Tibetan Buddhism.

This was my first Worldpackers work exchange and overall my experience was amazing! The facilities/rooms at the Center are great, everything is so comfy and clean. The staff and other volunteers were some of the best people I've ever met they were really helpful and we worked well together as a team. The grounds and nature in the area are absolutely beautiful and there are many places you can go for a hike/nature walk. I stayed for almost 2 months and I always felt safe, ate some of the best vegetarian/vegan food of my life, and even got to attend some of the program classes. So thankful! 🫶🏽

It's a peaceful place, surrounded by nature and silence and a great space for reflection, learning and meditation. The work is basically housekeeping, as it is a very well maintained and clean place, it is easy to be done. You can learn about hospitality too. The centre is about 15 minutes by car from the nearest city (Ellenville) which we can go through the rides that the staff provide, as well to Middletown where the train station is. In the region there are trails and parks with beautiful views. If that's what you're looking for, this place is for you!
