The Experience

As a nonprofit retreat center, we rely on volunteer support for all our operations; we would be happy for you to join us. You will find it’s an opportunity both to give back through service, and to deepen your own personal development. Typically, your responsibilities will be in housekeeping, garden/grounds, or the kitchen (sometimes all three), although you may also help manage guests or take on special projects. All staff help with dishwashing.

My 1 month stay at Dharmakaya was a transformative experience. I attended programs on Buddhism and well-being, met volunteers from all over the world, cooked and ate the most delicious vegetarian meals every day, and slept in the most comfortable dorm rooms every night. I felt privileged to be a part of a respectful, socially minded community and a tranquil, mentally cleansing environment. Now as I’ve left Dharmakaya, I’m determined to carry this energy to the other communities and environments I find myself in. If you’re also looking for a spiritual journey, Dharmakaya is the best place to be

Grow w/ amazing people in a beautiful center surrounded by nature. There is a lot to enjoy at Dharmakaya: Inspiring grounds; Pristine buildings w/ amazing rooms for volunteers; Incredible food; Day trips + experiences off-site; Facilities to support your own pursuits such as art, exercise, study... Arrange rides as needed (train to nyc, cute nearby towns + sites). Weekend retreat guests have a great vibe. Volunteers can attend most retreat events. I have attended sound bowl, walking meditation + Rinpoche teachings. Kind people run the center + their journey will inspire you.

Thank you for the amazing experience in Dharmakaya 🤍 I’ll definitely be back soon! The amazing team work that the volunteers create is what makes the differences 🫶🏼.
The center needs a manager and need to improve in many ways. But I know it will get better and better with time, love and respect.
It’s a lot of work in the weekends (for the way they split the tasks because is not difficult, it just feels like you work all the time cuz you are always around fixing stuff).
I’m leaving with new memories, new friends and many points of view about life. Loved every single day of my stay. Xoxo

Dharmakaya was such a wonderful place! I made such wonderful friendships in my month here, got to meet people from all over the world, and I got to experience many different types of yoga/meditation/mindfulness. Organization and leadership could be improved in a few areas, but they know this and are working on it! You'll meet some beautiful souls here and see some lovely mountains
