I had such a great 2 weeks at this hostel volunteering. Jose was a very relaxed and flexible host and was always very easy to get in contact with. The actual work was enjoyable and helped me practice my Spanish with both ecuadorian and other Latin travellers. I would recommend this place to someone who wants to enjoy montañita, be social at the hostel and see the surrounding beaches/towns!

We had a great experience volunteering at the hostel. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome. The host José was friendly, approachable and always happy to help with anything we needed. The work was fair and well-organised, with reasonable hours that still left us plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the area. The hostel was very social and we met loads of people during our stay, we would recommend this experience to anyone!

First of, i did have a great time in montañita and the hostel is really cool and the staff kind. They also changed their volunteering program a lot at the end of my stay. The accomandation was really bad, but they did change that to a really good one. The work is more of cleaning than just reception but it is not a lot of work, hourly wise. It is not really a party hostel, but there are always multiple volunteers and guests to connect with. Can recommend volunteering at hiddenhouse of youre down for a chill hostel and free surfboards!!

I had a great experience at the hostel. The hostel itself is really impressive with a good location, nice kitchen, and plenty of chill out spaces. It was quiet during low season but there were still lots of friendly people around. The host was very easy to communicate with and the work was very relaxed. I would definitely recommend this place.

I think communication is really lacking because since I arrived nobody really explained the schedule or the tasks that need to be done. The volunteer room is super crammed and I couldn't unpack at all, just live right out of the backpack. The overall space is nice for chilling, loved the hammocks, the tasks are easy (but also super boring, sweeping the leaves over and over again). Also, the biggest downside was that they say they provide surfboards but most of them are broken or without fins, only one kind of working. I left early, I'm grateful that Jose was understanding about it.

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel: the common areas are big and well organised, perfect to socialise. Cherry on top were the other volunteers, I feel like we made a great team and worked really well together. Accommodation should be better, the volunteers' room is overcrowded and there is barely any space to walk or put your stuff. Jose helped with everything we needed, however I feel like the volunteers should be taken better care of. Most of the times we were left to interact with the manager, who always brushed off anything we had to say and often talked down to us

The hostel is a really nice spot to volunteer at. It's super quite and chill now, not a party hostel as it used to be. Jose is welcome and always help you whatever you need. One of the best parts is that you can use hostel's surfboards for free. I'd definitely recommend you to stay at the hostel if you want to spend a couple of weeks in Montañita The reason I give a 4 is that I applied for a bartender position, but there was not much work and I had to change it to reception at the hostel
