The Exchange

Thabarwa is one of over 100 centre of solidarity and meditation, founded by the Burman monk Ottamathara. Here people in difficulty (i.e. homeless people, people with addiction problems, singel parents, people with mental and physical problems) can find refuge and hospitality for free, in a climate of total openess, respect and joy. Together with volunteers from all over the world we manage daily life and work on projecs and new ideas.


What you offer

4 hours of help per day

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.


Requirements

Accepts solo applications and also couples and pairs


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Activities & Shift

We live together as a comunity, and we all help out with daily chores and routeens. Usually we work in the morning until lunch with different kind of task, like helping prepare lunch, cleaning common spaces, working in the garden, cutting wood and grass or doing other out door works, building and repairing things, and keep the surroundings clean.
Sometimes we organize events, like retreats, dinners or different kind of courses.

We are a big open family, with our similarities and differences. We will respect you for who you are and we expect you to do the same with all of us!
