I volunteered at Papachos for 2 weeks and a half and I loved it! The tasks were very easy and the hostel was chill. There is a lot of flexibility and you are allowed to be in different parts of the hostel, sleep, watch movies, etc. during your shifts as long as you are still completing your tasks. Roberto was communicative and expectations were always clear.
The place was clean and organized. Upon arrival, Roberto provides you with rice, beans, pasta, oatmeal, and a lot of eggs to cook when you want, but breakfast is not made for you.

I had a great time at Papachos hostel. Banos is beautiful and there is so much to do there and the team was great and very accommodating! They made me feel welcomed from the first day and helped me improve my spanish!

While the location and guests were great, I did not feel authorized to do even the most basic tasks requirements of a receptionist. The hostel is run entirely through Whatsapp with the owner/manager Roberto (who lives in a different city) and volunteers. Because of the outdated systems in place, there is constant back and forth to do even the simplest administrative tasks. You cannot even make or view reservations on your own. Any issues that arose from guests and volunteers seemed to be dismissed with a laissez-faire attitude. Unfortunately, I did not find this a professional environment.

Papachos is a cool place to volunteer in the beautiful Baños de Agua Santa. The tasks are easy, Roberto is flexible, and the other volunteers were fun. I enjoy exploring the area in my free time – there are awesome hikes and other cool adventures with the Papachos team. Thank you for the chance.

My experience at Papachos Hostel was amazing! The atmosphere with the other volunteers and Roberto is really warm and supportive. There's a great culture of helping each other out, which is something that truly stuck with me. The shifts and instructions are clear, and I even ended up staying longer than planned. The work was easy and they followed the hours committment. The hostel is in a nice quiet area but close to everything. Roberto í easy to ửok for and a genuinely nice person. I strongly recommend it!

This was my first time doing volunteer work woth worldpackers and I will definitely do it again. I got really lucky to be working at this hostel. Initially I wanted to stay for 2 weeks, but I extended to 4, because I liked it so much. Roberto is a very nice and chill guy who looks that working hours don't exceed the agreed amount and is flexible when you want to do activities or tours. The hostel itself is great, super nice atmosphere, nice facilities (rooftop, pool table, movie room, well equiped kitchen) that make you feel at home very quickly. I definitely recommend this place!

I left early, along with another volunteer, through the WP Safeguard program. The environment felt tense and was different from what I expected in a cultural exchange. The host's communication style and close management of tasks made me feel stressed and like I was in a formal job rather than a collaborative environment. Some benefits didn't match what was listed, and I was asked to work extra hours and stay longer than agreed. For these reasons, I felt it was best to leave early. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this opportunity.
