The experience

Join our rural coliving community in Galicia and help us care for a restored traditional house during the winter season.

We are looking for a practical, independent person who enjoys working with their hands and knows how to spot, assess and solve everyday maintenance issues. Tasks may include small repairs, painting and decorating, assembling or fixing furniture, maintaining tools, improving storage areas and helping with basic outdoor or animal-care tasks when needed.

This is a hands-on role. You do not need to be a professional tradesperson, but you should have real practical experience, work carefully and know when a job requires professional help.

We ask for a six-week commitment, with the possibility of extending the stay by mutual agreement.

Program Details

Anceu Coliving is a family-run coliving and coworking space in a small Galician village surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains. You will live alongside remote workers, creatives and travellers from different countries.

Your contribution will help us keep a large restored farmhouse comfortable, functional and welcoming throughout the winter. We will agree on a list of priorities together and provide the materials and tools needed for each task.

We offer your own private room for the full stay, breakfast, use of our equipped kitchen, fast internet, a dedicated coworking space, free laundry and pick-up from the agreed nearby transport stop.

Activities & Shift

You will help for approximately 20 hours per week, normally around 4 hours a day on 5 days, with 2 full days off.

Typical activities include small household repairs; painting and decorating; assembling or fixing furniture; organising tools and storage areas; checking the house for maintenance needs; simple garden, firewood or outdoor jobs when weather permits; and occasionally feeding the chickens and collecting eggs.

You should work safely and independently after receiving instructions, communicate before starting any task that is unclear, and leave tools and work areas clean and organised. The exact schedule may change slightly depending on weather, materials and house priorities.

The expected commitment is 6 weeks. A longer stay can be agreed by both sides.

Rules

This is a shared home and working environment, not a party hostel. We expect respectful communication, care for common spaces, responsible use of heating and energy, and participation in the basic rhythms of community life.

We are looking for someone with real DIY, maintenance, carpentry, painting or repair experience. You should know your limits and ask before attempting work that may require a qualified professional. Rural Galicia is quiet and rainy in winter, so please apply only if that environment genuinely appeals to you.
