The experience

Volunteer opportunities are centered on community capacity building with opportunities to help in schools, orphanages, conservation, and health-related activities. In addition, I conduct a “Mobile Clinic” catered specifically to those with a background in medical science. The purpose of this clinic is to provide basic health needs and tests to people in villages that are unable to gain access to a hospital :)


What you offer

6 hours of help per day

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Requirements

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Old Moshi Hostel is a hostel that provides accommodation and placements to all the volunteers who comes to work with Moshi community in numerous projects providing diverse volunteering opportunities to suit their skills and interest in the areas of Education, Health (mobile clinic) and HIV Fights, Environment Conservation, Orphanage Centre, Women Empowerment Groups, and Coaching in Moshi- Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Best of all, our projects are all locally-run, so you can be assured that your time and effort will be contributing to sustainable community development! Example we have a project by the name Kilimanjaro Talented Youth Sports Centre (Kitayosce) where volunteers comes to coach the youths in numerous sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball and rugby.


Activities & Shift

Volunteering at an orphanage can be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. We work with several orphanage homes in the Moshi area; children range from ages 2 to 18, typically

As a volunteer, you will work alongside local staff to help with teaching
Homework help,
Childcare and the daily operational running of the home.
Organizing arts and crafts, music, dance, games, sports activities
Day trips for the children.
