The Experience

Help me with my kayak fishing, from tying flies to making jelly to night kayak fishing, only if you are up for it. Dawn is a wonderful thing to see from a kayak. I ask for 5 hours per week of the work time to be pulling weeds to help out and connect with the land as well as the ocean! This is my biggest personal passion, fishing in general, and I am happy to meet people who learn and grow forever and may be addicted to the ocean and nature.

Our stay at Matt's place was a big adventure and it was a bit of an adjustment at first. Life on the Big Island is different than what we know but that was also why we decided to help Matt out. His passion for the life he leads enabled us to see and experience things we wouldn't have otherwise. He makes sure the volunteers get as much from their stay as they can but respects their boundaries too. If you want to expand your horizons and get out of your comfort zone, volunteering here is perfect for you. He has much to offer if you're interested.

Math was an incredible host. I am happy that I was able to go and have this experience 🙌🏼✨🫶🏼 It's not easy when you are a city girl, but if you want to experience something different and learn about the way he lives, it's a great opportunity to help you to do things you're not used to do. The free time it's beautiful, you're going to clear your mind. There's not WiFi or reception. Also, if you want to take advantage about your free time, rent a car, moto or byci. That way you can move around and enjoy more. Good luck!

Matt is the kindest and nicest person that i have known in hawaii! He is always asking if you are comfortable or you need anything and he doesnt expect much from volunteers. I had a great time in his beautiful place and i learned a lot about susteintability and a different way of the project! He is so passionate about everything in life and about food. I tottally reccommend the experience. You will get to know a lot about nature and the island

I'm so glad to meet Matt and Ari here, they are undoubtedly the most fearless adventurers I've ever known. Every day here is so unique and different that I can always learn and try new things. Matt definitely is the most welcoming host, he always makes sure I feel comfortable in every aspect of my stay. And I even left with so many unique gifts from Hawaii haha! Thanks to him for everything !!
