The hostel in hillcrest San Diego was my first experience in world packers and as a solo trip, being a woman it can be hard to find places where you'd feel safe, mostly going so far from home, but I can promise you won't regret coming here. Andy has created an amazing community, everyone here is super chill and welcoming. The work that you've got to do is super easy, and everybody helps. It might seem odd at first but trust the process, you'll want to stay longer

So amazing hosting you! Someday we will host a giant re-union of all the thousands of amazing travelers that have lived with us at THC over the last 8 years. Stay connected for sure with us on insta @thehostelcalifornia

I had such a great time at the San Diego Hillcrest hostel. the hostel is a vibrant hub of international travelers. I've been warmly welcomed by Andy from the first day and the atmosphere was always friendly. The place itself was great and well equipped and the location perfect to go around the city.

I loved this hostel! I met people from all over the world and learned so much! Andy was always nice and easy to talk to. The Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego is great for travelers who want to party and have a good time but also want to stay in a chill spot. I would walk the area for hours! Theres so many nice bars, cafes, and restaurants close to the hostel and I've met some really cool locals. It's a great place:)

Very welcoming environment, not too spacious, but this, which initially I thought would be its weak point, instead turned out to be its strong point, because it made coexistence very intimate and created a sort of family bond between the guests in the hostel. Andy is very helpful and kind and the location of the hostel is excellent for reaching every point of San Diego, especially thanks to the many transport connections close to it. I hope to be able to return one day.

Very easy job! The host was very accommodating and everyone there was super friendly. Great place to stay if you don't want to do too much work while still having a place to sleep with a cool community.
