This was a fantastic experience. Santas Martas is a very small pueblo with not much around but it give you an opportunity to experience a different side of Spain that most others would not be used to. The work is physically demanding so be prepared to get your hands dirty. It was so cool to see the honey making process in a really intimate setting and really grow to understand the bees. My Spanish wasn't as great as it could have been and everyone was very patient and helped me improve. Would definitely recommend

I had a wonderful experience here and felt at home in the house, with the people and the work right away. My Spanish is not good yet Tonio and Aron were understanding and patient with me. Tonio even went out of his way to practice speaking with me. I appreciated learning about bees and processing honey and am excited to have my own bees one day. Its a thrilling and humbling experience to be surrounded by bees. I cannot say enough about great this experience was! I will remember it always. ¡muchas gracias!

Learning all about bees & the process of collecting the honey was so inspiring. I really enjoyed it & recommend visiting if you're curious about beekeeping & want to practice Spanish! We drove to many different areas where the hives are kept in the region which allowed us to see the beautiful landscapes & towns. Toño & Aaron were very nice & happy to teach us about the culture & cooking too! We got to try some traditional recipes that were delicious. Beekeeping can be hard work but easy to pick up & worth it if you love honey! The town is tranquil with friendly people. I am so grateful!

It was an amazing experience! We worked very hard and learned a ton. We learned how to get honey starting from the collection of the frames in the field full of bees, all the way to the bottling process. The long days of work were 100% worth the work. Santas Martas is a very small, but very beautiful town, with the most friendly and welcoming locals. We also got to travel out of town on our free time in the weekends so that we could experience the beauty that Northern Spain has to offer. Toño is a great host who does his absolute best to make his guest feel welcome. He is a great teacher too.

I really felt home at the farm. Toño is a nice host, helpful, respectful and kind and the same for his collaborator, Aron. I learnt a lot about bees, met interesting people and had the chance to practice Spanish and also explore the surroundings. If you do not have a car, you have to cope with the fact that Santas Martas is really small and quite isolated (there are not many buses to go to León or other towns).

Jose-Antonio is an amazing host and I had a really great time in Santas Martas! He was very patient with my rudimentary Spanish and helped me a lot improving. Lunch is always prepared and eaten all together. The work is partly in the garage preparing the boxes with wax and partly out on the field. Else, Santas Martas is a very small and very silent village. To me, this was the perfect place to calm down, meet other travelers, but also spend some time on my own and learn about beekeeping! However, knowing some basic Spanish is of great help and I would say even necessary.
