It was a really good experience ! 🙏🏾I really felt immersed and i learned a lot about Kitchwa . Despite my low level of Spanish, it went well overall. The volunteering with the family went well. We helped on taking care of the botanical garden, cooking and cleaning. Everyone is super nice and welcoming. However, I would have liked a little more clarity, especially concerning the additional activities and their prices. I recommend this experience

I stayed at the reservefor 7 weeks I enjoyed my stay a lot, but would recommend this Programm only to people who speak Spanish of B1/ B2 level, otherwise it's hard to connect with the family since only the 3 sons can speak a little bit in English. Also expect to contribute in the household with cooking as well. Besides that it was a mind blowing expirience. I loved to learn all about the plants, the culture and the life on the island. The Family is really amazing and I had a really good time slowing down life, very peaceful. For 1/2 weeks I would absolutely recommend! < 3

We're very grateful to the Canello family for opening their house to us. Our first voluntary experience was however not what we expected. The place has cultivation and farming lands no wild jungle or mammalians/ hiking trails. Beginner Spanish or intermediate is not enough to connect with the family and we suggest changing the conditions . You will learn a lot about medicinal plants and how they are grown (don't expect partaking in any rituals) but the work is 100% gardening. We didn't feel that our work was appreciated and unclear communication regarding meals and expectations became too much

Fabulous experience in a nice Kichwa family of 5 people. The project is a real gem within the community, and sharing is the key word of the experience. We feel included from the participation of the project to the convivial moments in family. The family only speaks Spanish and Kichwa, so it can be a little difficult for a non-native speaker. However, they are very inclusive and make an effort to share their culture and traditions with you. I was the only volunteer for the first week and was joined by another for the second, so the experience is personal and far from the large group volunteerin

Anaconda Island is the most beautiful place I've ever seen, and the reserveis a magical botanic garden. Unfortunately, due to sudden health issues, I had to leave earlier than expected. I think a bit more communication is necessary about the living situation, especially what hours the water is turned off. There are no walls, so bring lots of bug spray! I was inspired by Edison's passion for the garden and enjoyed working with him immensely. I will never forget my time there.

La settimana che ho passato nella comunità kichwa con la famiglia Canelos è stata bella e piena di insegnamenti. Lavorando nella riserva ho imparato nuove cose per me, come la permacultura, e ho profondamente approfondito le mie conoscenze sulle proprietà delle piante medicinali con l'aiuto di Edison e dei suoi figli che condividono con il padre la passione per le piante e la natura. Ho avuto la mia stanza e un letto comodo nella casa della famiglia Canelos. Mi hanno trattata molto bene, mi sono sentita molto accolta e ho imparato sulla comunità kichwa e sul suo modo di vivere.

Es una experiencia inmersiva en la isla, conocerás la selva de la mano de personas que la llevan dentro. Recomiendo quedarse más de una semana para entender las dinámicas y entrar en el flow de la naturaleza y la familia. Es un bello voluntariado y la familia Canelos se asegura de que te sientas cómodo y aprendas todo lo que alcances sobre su cultura. Recomiendo ir con una postura curiosa, preguntar, tener iniciativa, aportar e involucrarse realmente para hacer de tu experiencia la mejor. Eternamente agradecida con todos ellos.
