Sam's property is a slice of paradise! I'd definitely recommend the is experience to travellers who want to reconnect with nature. The work is exactly as described and the camper is super cosy. You'll also have plenty of time to explore the beautiful area!

Ms. Sam has clear and concise goals and her project assignments are understandable. Sam is highly skilled at what she is doing, whether it's gardening, tending to her sweet cats or chickens. Everything she touches turns to gold. Her places is handcrafted and exceptionally designed making it feel like a privilege to grace her structures and acreage. When at Sam's you are situated in a coastal rainforest and that's a really special place to be. The local community of Tarbert is friendly and active with environmental groups and volunteer activities.

This was my first volunteer experience and i'm so happy that i chose Sam. She's so kind, sweet and inspiring human being and she wants best for everyone.I had many opportunities to meet new people because of her.Tasks weren't hard at all, there is always something to do like in every countryside. But it was just few hours a day and i had so much time for myself and exploring the beautiful scottish country. The closest village Tarbert is just 30 min walk. The caravan i was staying at was so cosy and i was sleeping so well because of the sounds of nature and company of cats☺️i hope i come back soon

I stayed for about two weeks with Sam and had a great experience there! Sam and I got along great. She started me off with some food like beans and vegetables and there was WiFi in the caravan. The place is quite remote, but in the middle of beautiful nature, so you have to like that, if you choose to stay there for a longer period. Work was fine, like said you help a few hours everyday and it's really not much. Had a great stay there and hope to get back some time!

Such a beautiful place, the view of the ocean and surrounding countryside was one of my favorite things here. It also is not a very far walk into the nearby village which has an adorable harbor and super cool old castle ruin. All in all we had a great time and the grand old oak woods are definitely worth seeing.

Thanks, Rob. I don't think I filled in any of the numbered lists, so sorry if they appeared bonkers! Lovely to host you both... the quad shed is drying out :-)

Sam is a very down to earth person with a great vision for her forest. She has already done so much in restoring it and making it beautiful there. We had reasonable tasks with plenty of time to explore the surrounding areas.

We unfortunately were not compatible to work together, this is through no fault of anyone and one of those rare cases really. Things were very awkward and we just mutally decided to terminate the exchange. What I appreciate most was that at least she was honest and about what she was looking for even if it came off harsh. the place is gorgeous but go in summer or spring, and make sure you are able to do heavy duty intensive manual labour. You must buy food 30 mins away its expensive about 40£ a week. The caravan is extremely small. Bathroom is medieval style. I dont recommend going alone.

The work here is not heavy duty in any way, but a certain agility is expected, as there are few constructed paths in the forest and the terrain is very uneven. Most days I drive to the village, and everyone can get a ride, as did Franscesca. Volunteers do not shower in the caravan but in my lovely guest house, which Franscesca did. Yes the loo is a compost loo, so may not be for everyone. And yes, the forest is in the middle of no where, so enjoying solitude is a bonus.

Staying with Sam was such a beautiful experience. She's kind, thoughtful, and made me feel so welcome. The volunteering tasks were fair and enjoyable, and she respected my space while also sharing lovely moments like doing yoga together. I loved being surrounded by nature and learning new things. I only wish I had come sooner or stayed longer. I'd happily return anytime.

Well, there were ups and downs. Sam (host) can be nice, but she has a hard time respecting limits. She wanted me to work much more than we agreed on beforehand, and at the times she found convenient. The caravans for the volunteers are always having problems. The place itself, is very very beautiful!

Mathew was very sweet, but so impractical, that when any small thing needed DIY there was really no helping. I wanted a couple of hours a day, or ten hours a week, but this proved difficult for Mathew. He is sweet, but fragile. I wish him well.

The place is beautiful and very quiet, the tasks are not heavy and the work is fairly clear and doesn't take much time. I was able to enjoy my free time by exploring the area, observing nature, and visiting other places.
