The Experience

Work on the farm varies by season. In the Spring we spend our time prepping the field, sowing seeds, growing transplants, cultivating those seeds in the field, weeding, and watering. As we move into summer and fall helpers will have the opportunity to harvest and sell the fruits and vegetables that have been growing the past few months at the local farmers’ markets.

This being my first work exchange I’m truly impressed how generous Randy and Vern were. They looked at me as family. They made me feel like I was at home for the 8 weeks I was there. My time at Stockwell Farm was beyond memorable. The cooking, hiking, and the markets were phenomenal. Another highlight was having meals together, it really established a better connection with everyone. For the people thinking about this work exchange I would highly recommend. Truly an experience of a life time!

Vern and Randy have created a true home for travelers. I can't be more glad to have spent a month there! Alaska it's a magical place, with stunning views, and amazing hikes. I've felt very connected to the earth and if you add the good company and amazing food it turns out to be the perfect experience!! The vegetables are huge due to the many hours of sun in summer, it was so funny to sell them in the farmer's market and see the people's reactions to the zucchini's size! I felt at home, they were inclusive and always flexible about the volunteer's needs, they've big hearts and amazing souls:)

This experience exceeded our expectations! We just arrived home and we are greatly happy for this opportunity. Stockwell Farm is a place were you enjoy every single day! Vern is an amazing person, so generous and flexible with everyone, always share knowledge and answer any question we may have. The job on the field is so fun and the nature that surround the area is incredible! Randy is Vern's right hand, is so dedicated to guide the labor and both take care of the food, the activities after work to ensure we enjoy each day of our stay in Alaska, so, we are in love of this place! Thank you!!

My time at Stockwell Farm was honestly one of the best experiences I've had in my life. Everyone at the farm was so kind and welcoming. Vern and Randy are awesome. They go above and beyond to accommodate everyone's needs and made me feel right at home. I really appreciated the group activities/meals because brought everyone closer together. There's not a thing I would change about my experience. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves being outdoors and has the desire to learn more about agriculture. I left the farm with so much gratitude, new friends, and a desire to return ASAP!

My experience here was a wonderful one. Pretty life changing! The individuals at the farm are really amazing beings ❤️❤️. I learned so much from Vern about sustainability and our relationship to earth. I really got to connect with nature, myself, and others in a deep way. I felt very welcomed and taken care of here, I highly recommend this place for anyone who’s seeking to experience the true essence of Alaska and also deep healing in nature surrounded by
