The Experience

Help on the farm varies by season. In the Spring we spend our time prepping the field, sowing seeds, growing transplants, cultivating those seeds in the field, weeding, and watering. As we move into summer and fall helpers will have the opportunity to harvest and sell the fruits and vegetables that have been growing the past few months at the local farmers’ markets.

It took me awhile to settle in but once I did I wasn't ready to leave (I have extended my stay from 2 weeks to over 5) Vern, Randy and Shane have been incredibly chill, accommodating, and flexible hosts that want to make sure we get the most out of this experience. The work/life balance and communal living is so refreshing and it's because of the example Vern, Randy and Shane set. They make us amazing meals everyday and do most of the work on the farm you can tell they all really care about. Nothing feels like a chore when everyone genuinely enjoys the work and wants to pitch in :)

Amazing experience. Living communally, eating incredible meals together, adventuring, hiking, swimming, working on the farm, and more — everything was so good for the soul. Definitely recommend. I miss it already.

The farm was an amazing experience during the harvest season. Vern is a wonderful host being layed back, kind, generous, accepting and very knowledgeable. I felt so very welcomed there by everyone. The vibe was so peaceful & loving.Randy, Verns #1 Farm hand knows the farm extensively and is a person of genuine kindness & generosity. His daily meal preps were out of this world & his guidance on the daily farm activities were phenomenal. Shane, Alaskan born & raised is Verns other farm assistant with a vibrant fun personality. This was the BEST experience of my life.Lifelong friends made.

This was an amazing experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the farm. Everyone here is so welcoming. They are all easy going and considerate human beings. I loved the farm. It is gorgeous and produces the most beautiful organic produce.. It was a pleasure to assist in bringing this healthy, delicious food to the farmers market and our own table. ☮️

100% recommend! Im a shy person so i was nervous about traveling on my own & fitting in with new people but from the second Vern picked me up from the airport, I felt welcome. This place can easily turn into a home away from home (it already has for so many people). The work on the farm is easy & rewarding, although be prepared to be covered in dirt. Theres always something fun to do including hikes, camping, going into town, exploring other cities in alaska, etc. Vern, Randy, & Shane make everyone feel like a little family & although I flew home today, I'm already wishing I could return.
