I really spend two wonderful weeks in Palmeiras. The work is very relaxed and flexible, my highlights were doing some English classes for the kids and participating in the Capoeira class. Seeing the strong connection the kids have to their culture was very enriching. The Mandaca, where you live is a lovely place with amazing people, besides you have a lot of free time to explore the stunning nature and do various hikes, so I totally recommend it!

This is very special place, Cris and the whole team here are so sweet, the kids too. It's a wonderful social project that I'd recommend to any fellow traveler :) The location was phenomenal, one of the most beautiful parts of Brazil, with an abundance of hikes, waterfalls and rivers to visit during the day. The work hours were super manageable, a few hours in the evening helping out with cleaning, gardening & general tasks. I did two english classes, this was probably my favourite part, everyone who came was so sweet and engaged with class. It felt so special to have this new connection.

I was the most pleasantly suprised in my stay at ARCA, as it became one of my favorite experiences after 5 months in Brasil. I loved working with the kids and being part of the community. They have a strong capoeira culture there which was incredible to witness. The kids really need different structured things to work on after school. Teaching languages, movement, or anything else is great and they are all so curious and energetic! Cris is very friendly, communicative and helpful. The workload is not too much at all if you like to work with kids. I will be back and next time stay for longer!

The work that the organization does is very important for the place where it is inserted. It was my first volunteering experience. I was initially going to stay only two weeks, but the place, the experiences and the people made me stay for a month. Cris, the project director, is an incredible woman! The project needs help on several fronts, so whatever you can contribute will be very welcome... especially giving attention and proposing activities for the children. The lodging is not in the same location as the work, but the city is small and you can walk there calmly. I highly recommend!

I love the ARCA space, the organization, and the community, including the children. I have come back twice to do volunteering there, and each time it's been very beautiful. There is a lot of organization. The children like to play with anything. The people are very good and friendly. I will always come back here. We spent two weeks doing volunteer work at the organization; it was wonderful! We were warmly welcomed by Cris, Ninha and Valdivan, who supported us in our volunteer activities, while giving us total freedom to lead them as we wished. The organization is a space very well designed for children, with facilities that helped us carry out a variety of activities, from making pizza to English lessons and Olympic games. The work is very calm and allows you to explore Chapada Diamantina. We recommend coming to Palmeiras to support such a beautiful project!
