The experience began positively in Hotel the guest house, preparing breakfast, cleaning rooms, etc. I then did DIY work after this, refurbishing doors and chairs. The negatives came in interactions with Alex (the host). He struggles with open, direct and respectful communication, with expectations and rules often fluctuating. Once when volunteers were cooking dinner, Alex demanded we stop cooking, that we were not entitled to cook now - we were told to prepare lunch from ingredients provided. Alex threatened to call the police and said he would make me leave “by kicks and punches”.

Volunteering at the B&B in Florence was an amazing experience! The tasks were simple and well-organized, leaving plenty of time to explore the city. The location is perfect, close to all the tourist attractions, making each day a new adventure. The team is incredibly welcoming, kind, and patient, making you feel at home from day one. Plus, the food is fantastic, with delicious breakfast and lunch provided. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Florence!

It is ideal for travelers who wanna to spend some quiet time. The place has only a few rooms, the job is easy and they provide good food and nice room (no bunk beds!). Pros: It is a calm place, amazing kitchen if you like to cook, you can practice your Spanish (they are Argentinians), food freshly made everyday, easy work and routine, nice location outside the touristic area. German (the manager) is a really nice and sweet guy, respectful and flexible. Cons: The schedule is made day by day which makes hard to book things in advance, but they can be really flexible with your day offs.

My stay at the guest house was short, but very rewarding. The place is very welcoming, the tasks are simple and the schedule is completely flexible, which allows you to have quite a bit of free time to get to know and enjoy Florence. In addition, the location is excellent Ale is a person who makes you feel at home from the first day; thank you very much for the good conversations, the advice, the dinners and the walks. I have very fond memories from this experience and I hope to be able to return someday and stay longer. I definitely recommend this volunteering <3

I stayed at Hotel la casa for a week, for personal and health reasons. Alejandro was away traveling. There were other volunteers, one of them took care of everything; they were very kind to me, the atmosphere is nice, the tasks are clear, they assign you the afternoon shift since the other volunteer is fixed in the morning. They assign you the afternoon shift, and if a guest arrived after hours you still had to attend to them, which could be until midnight. I don't know if it was because Alejandro wasn't there, but the schedules weren't fully kept.

The late shift has no fixed schedule; you have to be there when the people arrive. If one person arrives at 2:00 PM and the other at 10:00 PM, in between you can go out for a walk. You don't have to be here. So you're not working from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM... You worked at 2:00 PM and at 10:00 PM... In the middle you stay because you felt like it—the air conditioning is here and outside it's hot. When you write irresponsibly, people understand just about anything.

My experience at the guesthouse hotel was excellent and could not have been better.
The team was wonderful, the accommodation is great. Alejandro is an excellent chef and the work you get is more than fair.
The hotel has a wonderful location, so you can be right in the city center in your free time to do something.
All in all, I can say that my time there was more than worthwhile and I was able to learn a lot.
I would warmly recommend this position at Hotel das Gästehaus to everyone!
