I really enjoyed my time at Rethymno Youth Hostel, it was an amazing experience! The work was manageable, nothing too difficult and the schedule gave me plenty of time to explore the island of Crete and the city.
Tristan, Nico and Joseph were welcoming from the beginning and made the atmosphere really special. It was also very easy to connect with the other volunteers and the travelers which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Had a really great 3 weeks volunteering at RYH! It was the perfect balance between chill and social, plenty of opportunities to meet new people, have fun but also relax and enjoy your own time. Work was easy and hours were always respected. Amazing location for exploring Rethymno. Thanks to Tristan, Nico and Joseph for making the experience so enjoyable and memorable. Nico, Joseph, and Tristan were always kind and helpful during my stay. The atmosphere felt more like a small family, and I really appreciated how they made everyone in the hostel feel at home. I also liked that volunteers could contribute to the events and that they were open to our ideas. I spent the month of April at the hostel, and I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity. The hostel is family-run and authentic, and its location in Rethymno is perfect. Tristan, Joseph, and Nikos are incredibly kind, approachable, and so caring. You can choose this volunteer opportunity with complete confidence. There was a very great atmosphere among everyone. About the work, in April, it is really laid-back, fair, and not at all difficult. The work is really easy, and if you have any questions, you always get a great answer. The weekly event and the Instagram channel aren't hard to manage either. After this stay, you've definitely gained a second family. I wish I could stay here longer!

My time here at RYH was such an amazing experience, I wish I stayed longer! The vibes were chill and social around the hostel. The staff, volunteers and guests were all so nice and welcoming, it was almost too easy to have a good time!! Work wise, the tasks were straight forward and easy to complete. The location is amazing and there is so much to do, I will have to come back to experience things I missed out on. Thanks to the whole team, I will remember this time forever xoxo

As volunteer experiences go, you can't go wrong with RYH. Rethymno is a charming town with bus connections all over Crete. Tasks include cleaning, event planning, and social media. Everything is simple and shared among the team. Scheduling is last-minute and can change, but hours are respected. RYH itself is clean and comfortable. Volunteers share dorms with guests, which leads to some bed-switching during your stay, depending on occupancy and dorm dynamics. It's a very social place with endless opportunities to make connections. You'll make new friends every single day to enrich your stay!
