I had an amazing time with Olaf and the rest of his team at Germany's one and only potato farm hotel ! Everyone was VERY welcoming. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to meet people from other countries, connect with nature, practice their the hostel skills, and gain experience in the sector of hospitality. You don't need to have worked in a kitchen, bar or housekeeping before to volunteer here, which is great ! Met a lot of new people, and made new friends. Not only is it something that I can put on my CV, it is something that will stay with me forever ! Thank you ! Danke schön !

My experience at the Kartoffel Hotel was amazing. The workers were super nice throughout my entire stay, and the team was fun and very easy to be around.
The place is very calm and cozy, and my room was comfortable and nice.
The food was always amazing. Special thanks to the cooks, Porn, Petra, and Dagmar.
The job was challenging, but I had the chance to learn a lot. A special thanks to Ellie, the head of cleaning, and Ramon, from maintenance.
Thanks to Olaf, the manager, who was always nice and patient with me.

While I've no point of reference in rating an experience at Kartoffel Hotel with a similar experience elsewhere, I can say that the host--Olaf--and his staff are friendly and hospitable (especially the staff since you'll have more contact with them), and the food is exceptional. Speaking for myself, so long as you're both able to put in an effort in learning and applying your assigned duties and you're not opposed to a more rural setting, this experience will be worthwhile. If you're the more outgoing sort, there are also opportunities for comradery with fellow volunteers and coworkers.

The Kartoffelhotel has been a great oportunity for me to enjoy nature, the surroundings and also meet incredible people in the meantime. I recommend this experience to people who want to escape from the city life for a month or two. The work hours are ok and they let you have free time to enjoy the surrounding villages and so. Hamburg and Hannover are two hours away from here, so it's a nice idea to go and visit them during the weekends.

For my first WP experience, I had a very valuable time in the hostel. It is located in beautiful Wendland, and for me that was so wonderfull. The work is quite hard,since its expected that you da professional job, even though you are not professional. But if you take that as an opportunity to grow, then you can really learn something. I have to say that the biggest strength of the hostel is the staff. The people allready working there are simply amazing, and they do da very important job socially TOGETHER with the volunteers. Because of them I had an amazing experience! 🙏💞

I had a very nice experience volunteering here! The hotel and it's surroundings are very natural and peaceful, making it a good place to go to for some time away or to focus on yourself. If you come for a month they usually want you to try two different jobs, each for two weeks, which can be very helpful to learn about different aspects of the hotel! However, it is important to keep in mind that you may not do what you signed up for for the whole time and that you will have to communicate what works for you. Overall, I'm grateful for this experience and what it has taught me!
