Howard is a great host, super welcoming and always recommending cool activities or sharing his tips about the city.
With other volunteers you feel like a big family and everybody is super helpful with everything.
The guests are also amazing, the backpacker vibe of the hostel attracts beautiful souls and it's very easy to connect with other travellers.
Tasks are very easy to do and the shifts are reasonably assigned.
I loved my stay here and I wish to come back in the future! 🫶🫶

My first volunteering experience, and it was off the charts! Howard is extremely kind, outgoing, and welcoming. The hostel is organised, clean, and with a great social vibe. Most of all, it's very relaxing once you get the rhythm of the place. Warm travellers all around, and the activities every other day are the cherry on top. I would recommend this place for new volunteers, and I highly encourage anyone to visit Malacca and learn about it's history from the lovely book in the hostel: Malacca voices from the street. Volunteering at the guest house was one of the best decisions I made during my time in Malaysia. The hostel is warm and the people are amazing! Work was simple, straightforward, and flexible. There were already 5 volunteers when I arrived making the hostel feel activated and friendly. The guest house was definitely a highlight of my trip. The vibe there shifts, but it's never bad. Howard, the owner, is actively engaged in running the events, and is amongst the most welcoming hosts I've had the pleasure of meeting. The team of volunteers varies - I've seen it go between 1-4, but you're never truly alone, and the more people, the more fun/events there are to be had. I had such great experience. Ringos Hostel is super comfortable and the owner’s family is incredibly kind and welcoming. Howard was very helpful to all of us and the overall vibe was always positive and warm.
Howard very supportive and creates such a good atmosphere for social hostel. All made the experiences even more meaningful. Ringos truly felt like a second home to me. I had a great experience volunteering at the guest house. The hostel had a very chill, welcoming vibe and lots of great recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the city.
