Program Details

In this role you will be a key part of keeping our welcoming and harmonious center. Your tasks will include greeting visitors in the café, keeping it clean and tidy, preparing the space for operation, and, when the café is closed, assisting with cleaning of common areas, bathrooms, corridors, and gardens.

We offer accommodation in a shared room, three meals a day, and the possibility to participate in meditation classes. By being part of our Kadampa Buddhist community, you will be able to live with and learn from practitioners with many years of experience, in addition to immersing yourself in the center's classes, chanted prayers and meditation retreats held at the center, living a deep learning and personal growth experience.

For your stay, you should bring a sleeping bag or top sheet, a towel, and personal care items. We provide you with a bottom sheet and pillowcase.

Volunteering in the café not only involves contributing to the center's functioning: it is an opportunity to connect with nature, meditation, and a community committed to inner peace and harmony, while you actively contribute to the well-being of all visitors.

Activities & Shift

Your tasks will include preparing and serving coffees, beverages and breakfasts, keeping the workspace clean and organized, cleaning the terrace, and preparing what is needed for opening and closing the café.
During weekends, hours may vary due to special events. During the week, when the café is closed, cleaning or kitchen shifts will be covered.
We work 5 days a week and take 2 days off. The shift is 6 hours daily, spread throughout the day.
Standard schedule:
• 10:00 – 14:00: tasks with a 15-minute break.
• 14:00 – 15:00: lunch time.
• 15:00 – 17:00: continuation of tasks.

This schedule can be adapted according to the center's needs and ongoing retreats. What always remains is the 6 hours of daily work, though the distribution and days off may be adjusted according to the center's planning.

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes are required, as the café is key to offering a welcoming and harmonious environment to all visitors.
