Program Details
We are 2 volunteers writing for Michael about the experience at his beautiful home in Samos, Greece.
Michael is a really lovely man, he struggles to walk, has disabilities and has been unwell recently. He currently has a carer at the house, Maria, and she helps him with day to day tasks.
Michael is unable to drive and likes to keep to himself most of the time except meal times.
You work Monday - Friday and have weekends off (unless Michael discusses with you any changes).
Jobs:
Walk the 3 dogs in the morning. They are good to walking together even if you are on your own. After the walk they need food and fresh water.
Breakfast is always the same; bread, butter, jam and 2 hard boiled eggs. You will need to get fresh bread from the bakery in the morning.
Michael sets one task for the day, little odd jobs in the garden or house.
For dinner, Michael will let you know what he would like and generally likes to eat around 7pm. You will prepare dinner and do the dishes after.
Experience:
Kokkari is a lovely village with beaches, cafes, restaurants, bars and a busy nightlife with live Greek music.
Samos is a stunning island, and birthplace of Pythagoras (if you are a maths geek like me). There are lots of places to visit in your free time and bus routes to get around.
We have left detailed instructions about daily living at the house to help you as Michael may not be able to tell you.
