Living at the hostel was awesome. The hostel has a really good mix of daily events, you can go on a pub crawl or dance some Scottish dances, but you can also just join the movie night or the arts and crafts nights. I think this environment is really good because it's not really a party hostel nor a stay at home hostel, so whether you're more or less into either you'll fit in. There's a ton of volunteers to spend time with and the staff doesn't really feel like \"staff\", they're super helpful, easy on the volunteers and friendly. The hours really are just 14 and the city of Edinburgh is amazing

Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better place for my first volunteering experience! From the moment i arrived i felt very welcomed by every volunteer and manager, everyone is so kind, attentive and helpful. Every single person here is just incredible, and making friends from all over the world felt so natural and easy. The workload is super fair and easy to manage, leaving you with plenty of time and energy to go around and explore the city. It's perfect! I would 100% come back in a heartbeat! Thanks for an unforgettable time! ❤️

There's no words to truly describe how incredible the hostel is. It quickly became my home away from home, where I made friendships that will last forever. The atmosphere and common spaces are inviting, the dorms have comfy beds and lots of personal storage space, and the kitchen has everything you could imagine. The 14 hours are extremely fair and easy, if you have a good work ethic. The entire hostel is always extremely clean from top to bottom. This was my first volunteer experience and I can't imagine it ever being topped. Your time will fly by so remember to soak it all in <3

HSH is an international environment full of stimulation, things to learn and discover, where you can also carve out some personal time to relax. Right from the start, I felt appreciated for who I am and welcomed into this wonderful family. The hostel is run impeccably, and the 14 weekly hours of work are easy, flexible, and offer a wide choice of shifts. The managers are fantastic and encourage you to do your best without putting pressure on you. I didn't feel judged at all for my imperfect English; on the contrary, everyone helped me. This place will be always in my heart. I had such a wonderful time; I never dreamed of living on a big intercultural family like this, and having the opportunity to meet many travellers from different countries. I had lots of fun, I saw stunning places in Scotland, and I made some friendships that I will cherish for ever. The work is flexible, there are different things that you can choose to do and many new things you can learn! Gabs, Penny and Dale are really kind and supporting. I can't recommend this experience enough, thank you HSH, I would love to come back someday.

The hostel is a great place to meet people, stay and enjoy the beauties of Edinburgh. The team is great and the work easily stays in the 14 hours. It is also possible to visit the Highlands through the hostel, with tours or alone. I had a great time and even as a loner you always feel welcome in the hostel.

Guys I just checked in for my shift at the happiness factory and our newest product is Scotland hostels. If you cheeky travellers want a REAL Edinburgh stay… don't pass up on the opportunity to volunteer at the hostel. I truly believe that every person I met at the hostel is wonderful and unique in the best way possible. I hope that they leave as positive an impact on all the other people they meet as they've done upon myself. Seriously the hostel has a very special place in my heart 🫶🫶

My month in edinburgh has been absolutely amazing! Hsh is such a special place, i loved every second of being there. Every single volunteer and staff member is sosososo wonderful, i dont think words alone can do them justice<3 as for the work, the hours are as written, 14 a week, either cleaning or hosting events, very straight forward:):) Again i cant recommend hsh enough!

I had an amazing month volunteering at the hostel! The location is perfect, right in the heart of Edinburgh, but what made the experience truly special was the people. I met volunteers and guests from all over the world, made great friends and shared so many good moments. The shifts were well organized and flexible, so I also had time to explore Edinburgh and travel around Scotland. A special thank you to Gabs for being so welcoming, kind and supportive throughout my stay. I'm leaving with wonderful memories and a lot of gratitude.
