The Experience
We support a sustainable community of local San Diego business owners. The work location is 10 minutes drive from our famous Hostel @TheHostelCalifornia where you will be staying with other International Guests. The main job as "handyman" will be to help our "Refurbished Goods" warehouse keep tidy, can include painting, scraping, sanding, cleaning up overgrown brush, and to help organizing. Also may be opportunities to help Reclaim furniture.

Andy is great and San Diego is beautiful! As long as you're proactive and clean when needed, you're free to explore San Diego each day. There's a chance you may have to sleep on the couch, but Andy makes it clear if that's the case and tries to get you a bed if there's one available. I spent 8 nights here and only 1 on the couch. Great exchange!

San Diego has the best Vibes , generally you can experience with all locals and especially at the hostel are likeminded travelers ! Really the best Hostel in the USA, maybe the World! Amazing Art, fantastic host, location and meeting other guests; I will be back again!

Coming here was my first World packers experience & I am very happy it was! Andy was such a welcoming & inviting host with a great personality! For the work, it was very simple chores that involved cleaning common areas such as the kitchen or living room & afterwards you have the rest of the day to explore! the hostel itself is such a vibe and has so much fun art on the walls!:) Everyone I met was from all sorts of backgrounds making it a very inclusive experience that taught me so much about them & the different places around the world. I made great connections & would definitely recommend!
