The Experience

We ask for the same things you would already expect. Live-ins are asked to look after the hostel. Front desk duties are to check guests in with a smile and interact with them. Cleaning duties involve looking after the place in general and on some shifts getting down and cleaning up. Housekeeping shift also is there to help with beds and making sure hostel is not lacking anything. Don't worry, we don't work any one too hard!

This was my first traveling experience with Worldpacker and I loved it. The work was super easy and there was a lot of time to explore DC. I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking about it!

The hostel in itself is amazing. It's very clean and the the work and tasks are easy. However, I experienced a lot of abuse from a receptionist that goes by Dee at this job. He asked me out 5 times and I refused each time. After that he began being controlling and verbally abusive calling me "crazy" and "a fucking child." I reported him right before I left for fear of retaliation. Luckily Tom was receptive to what I said. He was predatorial and this made the experience uncomfortable for me. Hopefully he is disciplined accordingly or else he will most likely continue to engage in the behavior.

Mixed experience for myself. Definitely found myself confused on some of the ways things were ran. I think going forward it will get a bit better though.
