Program Details

We welcome travelers who want more than a basic exchange and are looking for a deeper, more involved experience during our busiest time of year.

During high season, we offer a special stipend-based volunteer opportunity for those who would like to take on a stronger level of commitment within our project. In this role, volunteers who help with an additional shift of 5 hours a day, 5 days a week (a total of 25 extra hours per week) beyond the regular schedule may receive a $500 USD monthly stipend.

In addition to the stipend, we also provide laundry service and offer a 2% commission on certain sales, depending on the type of support and responsibilities involved.

This position is best suited for someone who is:
proactive and dependable
comfortable with a busier routine
flexible and happy to help where needed most
genuinely interested in local culture and teamwork

The stipend option is designed for volunteers who want to be more involved in daily operations while receiving extra support during their travels. It is a good fit for people who enjoy staying active, being useful, and contributing in a meaningful way during a demanding season.

We always aim to create a respectful, welcoming, and transparent environment. Responsibilities, schedules, and expectations are explained clearly in advance so that both sides feel comfortable and aligned from the beginning.

Please note:

this opportunity is available only during the busy season
the stipend applies only to volunteers taking on the additional 25 hours per week
meals are not included on days off
This role is a great option for travelers who want to experience Guatemala in a more immersive way, support a local project, and take on a more active role while abroad.

Activities & Shift

At 6:30 AM, volunteers help with the morning briefing for the Acatenango walking tour, making sure guests receive the key information they need. During this time, they may also assist with rentals, answer guest questions, and help keep the reception area running smoothly.

After the first group leaves, the focus shifts to preparing everything for the second group, which is our 4x4 tour departing at 11:00 AM. This also includes helping with the briefing, supporting guests, organizing rentals, and assisting with the same reception and tour-preparation tasks.

Once both groups have been prepared, volunteers take a 30-minute break before returning to support the reception and sales side of the operation. This part of the day includes helping answer guest questions and responding to messages through our CRM system, where most of our sales and booking communication are handled online.

In addition to the stipend, we also provide laundry service, and volunteers may earn a 2% commission on certain sales, depending on the type of support and responsibilities involved.

This position is best suited for someone who is:

proactive and dependable
comfortable in a fast-paced setting
friendly and confident speaking with guests
organized, flexible, and happy to support both operations and sales
genuinely interested in local culture, teamwork, and meaningful contribution

We always aim to create a respectful, welcoming, and transparent environment. Responsibilities, schedules, and expectations are explained clearly in advance so both sides feel comfortable and aligned from the beginning.
