I spent 2 weeks with Anita, a restorative break during my Canadian journey. the farm is peaceful, surrounded by nature and full of life. Anita made me feel welcome and was patient with my uncertain English. The work was varied: weeding, caring for the property, apple picking, vineyard work, planting and mowing. We shared river afternoons, campfires, Rummikub, meditation evenings and delicious meals (Anita is an amazing cook!). Her recommendations made my days off and solo explorations special. Thank you, Anita, and thank you to everyone at the farm for adding an extra light to my journey ! ☀

My stay with Anita was my first Worldpackers trip, and I was absolutely delighted. She is very dedicated and tries to show you as much as possible. Her home is beautiful, the garden work is fun, and the people are very warm and loving. On top of that, she is a fantastic cook and spoils you with delicious dishes. All in all, it was a great experience and I hope I will return to this wonderful place again someday.😊

I had a great volunteering experience with Anita. The working hours were always respected, and the tasks were simple and clearly explained. She always made sure I understood everything and felt comfortable. Anita is a kind, welcoming, and open-minded host who genuinely cares about her volunteers. She also recommended great places to visit and local activities, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for a positive and supportive host.

This was my first worldpackers experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. Anita was a lovely welcoming host who immediately makes you feel at ease. Her cooking is absolutely delicious, healthy and supported by what is grown in the gardens. The RV is cosy and the sun lotus site and surrounding Cowichan area is just stunning. There are plenty of trails to explore, you can swim in the nearby lake, and often on hot days we head down to the river to break up the day. The work is enjoyable and Anita is a well of knowledge about all things plants and nutrition. Thank you so much!

This was my first time volunteering. I immediately felt at ease and welcomed. Anita was always very kind; she welcomed us around a campfire and showed us around the area with a short hike and stops by the river.

It was an amazing experience staying at the farm! Anita is a kind, philosophical and strong person who never let me feel anything but welcome in her home. She took me to some local spots and also told me the best places to visit nearby. She's also an excellent cook and has a book of her own about “the adventures of yogi” which really altered my perspective on meditation. Her ideas as a writer and as a person really fascinated me and staying at her place was just an enlightening experience, helping me connect with nature and get away from the chaotic life of the city. Will come again soon!!!

The place is beautiful and welcoming, but if you don't have a car is complicated to move. Transportation times are spaced out over time (every 2h). Nevertheless, Anita is a great host. she's sociable and funny. She showed me niche places near the river which was fantastic. Moreover, her cooking is really amazing. The only inconvenience is that you have to take care of your food in your days off (the supermarket is pretty far, so it can be complicated), but Anita answer to this problem by taking me with her to the grocery store.

Hi Ilana, The meal situation for days off is clearly explained in the description of the program, as is the irregular bus service. (and then I repeat it in the introductory message I send to travellers once they are confirmed) More experienced travellers do not seem to struggle with these issues as much as you did, I recommend reading very carefully the descriptions and details of future placements. It was a pleasure hosting you and I hope you got a lot out of your stay here. much love, A

Anita was a lovely host! She makes the best food and showed me lots of places around Cowichan River. The work was enjoyable to do and to manage and I loved working in her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Lodgings were cosy and Anita made sure I felt at home! A place I would love to return to ❤️

From the moment I arrived, I felt truly welcome. The people living there are kind, and Anita herself is an easy going, open, and patient person. Most of the tasks involved watering plants, weeding, or picking cherries. Besides the work, Anita showed me some beautiful spots around Duncan, and we often went swimming at the river. Anita was very supportive when I struggled to find the right English words. She's also an amazing cook. Every day there was something fresh and delicious to eat. As my very first Worldpackers experience, I couldn't have asked for a better place.
