I was originally only staying at the guest house for only 1month,but I ended up extending and staying for almost 3months. This town tucked away in the mountains of the yamanashi prefecture is so beautiful. Not only did I make connections with the others volunteering but also with the Japanese staff as well. The tasks are simple, cleaning baths, toilets and rooms, cleaning dishes and occasionally helping with some preparation for guests meals, and also some with simple gardening. I'm truly grateful to Zeko,Junko,Chris and Lucille for alowing me to work here and making this trip so important to me.

I spent two months at the guest house and it was just a wonderful time! I met so many wonderful people at the guest house, be it Japanese people working there or just volunteers from all around the world! The surrounding area lets you explore beautiful nature and Temples and I really felt like I got a glimpse into Japanese culture, I am really grateful for that. The work itself is mostly pretty standard hotel work, doing rooms, washing dishes, etc. But it is pretty easy and rewarding once you get into the rhythm! I can highly recommend the guest house!! thanks to everyone living and working there again!

My time at the guest house was great! I stayed in one of the three volunteer houses near the guest house, which was pretty nice, just the walk up to Kakurimbo was kind of tiring.. great cardio tho. The food provided is very good, especially from Mikashima San! General work (cleaning tasks and setting up the rooms) was easy overall but you will have to remember some details, which is definitely doable. Most of my stay I actually worked in café Zencho, which can be demanding when it's getting busy, but really was a pleasure to work there! I really want to thank all the people at Kakurimbo for a great time!

Working here was a very special experience for me. The natural environment is incredibly beautiful, and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to stay on such a historic mountain. The staff and hosts are all very kind and friendly, and the volunteers quickly became friends while helping each other. The food at the guest house is also amazing — I believe every volunteer will fall in love with it. I'm very grateful to everyone who prepared such delicious meals for us. I sincerely hope the guest house Stay the guest house continues to grow and do well in the future.

My stay has been short but the time I spent at the guest house I will never forget. Minobu is definitely one of the most charming places I have ever been to, and the kindness from the staff and other volunteers really made this experience even better. Thank you to everyone, specially to Junko-san that made this possible. I would love to come back one day ❣️

This must be one of my favorite Volunteer experiences. I had the chance to feel like in a calm retreat while still doing reasonable work and get delicious meals from the lovely cooks. The place is magical and with all the mountains around you, you feel like truly safe and sound. The people are nice and respectful and it's fun to experience the guest house tours they offer✨ Would definitely recommend and I'm happy I got the be a part of their team.

I have no words to describe this wonderful experience. I immediately felt at home thanks to the friendly Japanese staff. I learned so much about Japanese and Buddhist culture and took part in many amazing activities, including a two-day hike on Mount Shichimen with an overnight stay in a the host, kimono experience, calligraphy, and meditation. Volunteers can also use e-bikes, making it easy to explore the area (and even go out for a cappuccino ☺️). A special mention goes to Junko-san, an incredibly kind and wonderful person. I hope to return to this beautiful corner of paradise ❤️

This was my first time volunteering and it was fantastic! Both the host and its surrounding areas are beautiful and peaceful, the staff and other volunteers are very friendly, kind, helpful and supportive. The job itself is not too difficult, but you have to keep up the pace and not slack off. It took me a few days to get comfortable with the new work environment and new people, but by the end of my stay, everyone felt like family. I had a wonderful time - the people, work, food, and cultural immersion made it the perfect mix of experiences. I hope to come back to the host someday.
