Support a Community Centre for Asylum Seekers Refugees in Serres
The experience
We are looking for volunteers! Welcome!
We are an NGO and we operate a community center for the residents of a nearby refugee camp.
We provide psycho-social support throughout our different programs: Female Friendly Space, Children Friendly Space, Educational Program (English and German lessons), Arts and Recreation program (yoga/fitness/dance/guitar/piano lessons), and Warehouse (distribution of dry food/ clothes/hygiene products).
What you offer
30 hours of help per week
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Arts:
Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.
What you get
2 days off per week
Team Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.
Requirements
Fluent English
Over 19 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa
Program Details
We can provide different types of volunteer opportunities :
- Female Friendly Space volunteers: facilitate activities like knitting day, spa day, movie day, ensure that the space is safe, socialize with the residents.
- Children Friendly Space: facilitate different activities for children aged 2 to 6 (sensory games, role play, construction, etc.), ensure the safety of the space, help the children to interact in an appropriate way and to express themselves.
- English & German teachers (TEFL and CELTA / Previous Experience preferred)
-Arts & Recreation facilitator - We teach classes in yoga, sports, music and Art. As well as having a drop-in recreation centre to play games
Activities & Shift
Volunteers help out in the field with our different programs and in the warehouse and with our aid distribution
We receive volunteers for at least 8 weeks.
Rules
The volunteers are expected to help about 5-7h a day, to attend the team meeting once a week and at times help out in other programs if necessary.
They'll have two days off every week (Monday+Tuesday)
