I absolutely loved my time at the hostel!! The managers Patricio and Mariana are the sweetest people and were seriously so great to live & work with. The work was super chill since it was slow season and I got to meet so many the hostel people and practice my spanish a bunch! We got free surfboards and free breakfast which was such a great deal, the hostel was more quiet since its going into slow season but I still made lots of friends during my stay and the hostel has activities everyday like hiking, bbqs, bonfires, etc, so everyday is different and fun. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone:)

Mariana and Pat made it very easy from the beginning to feel welcomed and comfortable! It was my first volunteer experience, and I'm very happy it was with them. It's a very laid-back, easygoing vibe in the hostel and I met the hostel people. The work load was fair for what you received in return. If you're like me going to Sayu for surfing, and you're a bit more advanced, it might make sense to buy a board during your stay as the hostel only provides foamies. For me, that elevated the experience.

This hostel will forever have a special place in my heart, I felt so welcomed by the hosts at the hostel from the moment I arrived and even after my time as a volunteer I decided to stay for an extra month as a guest because I did not want to leave! As for the work, I'd say it's more heavy on housekeeping than reception duties and depending on how many volunteers there are the hours can add up to a little more than what I expected, however the social experience and sense of community you get from volunteering here definitely makes the work worth it. I would absolutely come back again :)

To meet people, get the vibes of Sayulita, it was the best. Nevertheless it was a very stressful time. Every day, manager on site would list mistakes that would get us fired instantly. One mistake that was not mentioned in that list got me fired 1 week before the end: I was cleaning too slow. No warning before, no heads up on my work even if I had been asking. Management is not good, but the rest is truly fire. If you clean slow do not go. If it's your first experience I do not recommend it leaves a trauma. All the volunteers compose the cleaning team on site I was not aware.

I loved staying at the hostel! I loved that it was a social hostel, and not a party one. Quiet hours were respected, activities allowed so many people to meet, and the vibes were overall positive. I would say be prepared to do a lot of cleaning, especially if you're doing reception/housekeeping. I did content creating and found it to be the perfect balance for me, which I loved. Mariana and Pat were the hostel managers that I hope to work with again in the future. And overall, Sayulita is a special place where locals and tourists come together and easily become friends. Surfing is also great!

My stay at the hostel was incredible. Mariana and Pat the managers and all the other volunteers really make it feel like home. The tasks and schedules are clear and there is great communications between everyone. The hostel is great, you have AC in your room, access to free surfboards and free breakfast. Sayulita is a perfect smalll surf town for that kind of experience, I loved it and will definetely be back! Overall a 10/10 experience.

My stay at this hostel has been truly unforgettable. From the start, I felt like part of a family—surrounded by warmth, joy, and the hostel people. 💛 The breakfasts are delicious, the tasks are easy, and the vibe of living and working together is incredible. Surf lessons here are the hostel too—fun, supportive, and deeply connected to the ocean. 🌊✨ Thanks to Sean, Mariana, and the whole family for making this place feel like home. I leave with a grateful heart, lifelong friendships, and the wish to return soon. This isn't just a hostel—it's a home away from home. 💙

I worked as a volunteer for a month. Throughout my time, Mariana and Sean were great mentors and friends with whom I connected deeply. The shifts aren't particularly long or intense so that meant that in my free time I had the energy to explore the surroundings and have a balanced life. Thanks to the whole team and all the travellers I met along the way who helped me make this place home :)
