I had an amazing time here! The hosts are very helpful and welcoming. The place is very remote, you’re basically staying in the jungle which I loved. Lots of wildlife and right on a beautiful black sand beach. I had fun cooking delicious meals with Hernan and the work hours were respected. I hope I can come back :)

We are very grateful for helping us and sharing a little bit of their energy culture with our family, that the experience in a remote wild place and with the basic conditions can make an experience unique, share the kitchen with the help of Hernán teaching our meals, thank you pura vida...

Hernan and Patricia are lovely hosts and they welcomed us into their lifes and houses. It is in front of the beach and you are surrounded by nature. Loved the work: walking for 4 hours under the stars, finding turtles and help preserve their eggs. You will work more with the research assistants at LAST. Just some things to take with you while considering, the place is really remote, so expect wildlife everywhere, humid and hot conditions, mosquitos, sand flies and salt water. (There is no sweet water for showering etc). Good experience to get out of your comfortzone and be one with nature!

Patricia and Hernan were great hosts who always answered any questions that you had. I did the coconut farm experience so I was working closely with Hernan and it was fair work. You did about 2-3 hours of work a day and you even had the option to do turtle patrol so even if you choose coconuts, you can patrol for the cost of an extra $7 per patrol. The rooms itself were fine but missing a lot of comfort. Bats hang from the ceiling some mornings and there is an extreme amount of mosquitos. Also note the location is very remote. Mostly for someone looking for a lot of time to themselves.

Hernan and Patricia are great hosts always ready to answer any questions you have and the location is wonderfull - right in the middle of nature. The tortuga work is very cool as you basically walk on a secluded beach for 4 hours looking for dinosaurs :)

On the down side, it did not always feel like a workaway as Patricia and Hernan were not really involved with the organization themselves. The place did not always felt clean as the bedrooms have bats sleeping and the common area is taken over by the dogs haha. Lastly, although it is a bit secluded, we still felt we payed quite some money :-(

I received a warm welcome at Hernan and Patricia's house! Hernan takes the time to prépare delicious meals every day and takes also happily people out kayaking to show them the animals! However, it's a very isolated place, so it's not for people who likes big cities. It's a very calm and relaxing environment! The work at the place is quite substantial, but since we know it's for a good cause, it's not a problem! I just found it a shame that, as volunteers, we were not fully integrated into the project like everyone else… But i still recommend the expérience, which allowed me to learn a lot!

Although we only stayed for three days, it was an incredible experience. We got picked up by Patricia and started the trip with the most amazing boat ride to get to the place. There we met Hernan who welcomed us very warmly with a great meal. The work could not have been more interesting, we learned so much from Hernan who really loves all the wildlife on the island. If you want to explore Costa Ricas jungle, learn about the surrounding nature and also have great food and company, this is the right place.

We really enjoyed our time Volunteering here! Hernan was so lovely and very helpful with everything we needed while here. He also cooked amazing food! The work was relatively easy. It was really relaxed while not working and the house is located very close to the beach so we got to go swimming every day!

My first volunteering – and it was amazing! Patrizia is kind, flexible, and cooks great food. Tasks like making coconut fruit leather are simple, weather-dependent, and she adapts to your energy. Evenings were full of good vibes – small parties, great talks, and laughs with other volunteers. The place is peaceful and full of nature. Lots of animals around, lovely locals, and plenty of time to rest or read. A warm, authentic experience I'll never forget!

My experience was amazing!! Patricia was super welcoming and fun. She's also an amazing cook. We played games with her as well as with the other volunteers. Tried several new fruits and vegetables which was great. The volunteer work itself was super interesting and rewarding. Each day you had a night patrol of 4hrs (starting hour varied each day) with at least one other person. There were also shifts in the hatchery but you didn't have them everyday. Patricia also has some very cute dogs and cats which were massive plus! All in all an amazing experience!!
