The location is absolutely stunning, right on the Camino del Norte with pilgrims passing by daily, and just a stone's throw from the charming town of Larrabetzu in the Basque Country. While there were some challenges with communication and organization due to the host's difficult circumstances, the experience was still enriching. Joseba was fantastic, and the camaraderie with the other volunteers truly made the experience memorable and rewarding.

It's a very cozy place with dreamlike views and spectacular scenery. Schedules are respected and the tasks are easy to perform. It is recommended to wear appropriate clothing for the season and good shoes or boots to be able to walk, since the bus stop is about a 20-30 minute walk away. The kitchen has only one induction stove, so you have to be patient to cook.

The stay in the community was very pleasant. The work is in orchards and one learns a lot about crops, which involves producing vegetables, and in general about agriculture. From the farm you can also take a bus to several towns around and to Bilbao on weekends. I would definitely come back.

The experience was very good! Aitor is a good man and the stay there was calm. I learned a lot about sustainable agriculture with good old Joseba, and my conversations with Aitor taught me that living from this is not as easy as it may seem. It has also been great to be able to immerse myself in Basque culture. Just to note something, I would say that we haven't performed cattle-raising tasks. It is true that I didn't get around to talking to him either to see if one day I could try, but as a note that on the site profile it indicates it in the daily tasks.

Hugs!!

The whole Basque volunteering experience that this volunteer program gave me was incredible.
It made me very happy to have been here, and Aitor was a great help in making me feel comfortable in the house; the learning in the field was wonderful, the house warm and beautiful :)
Joseba was a great leader, he taught me a lot; I'm leaving very happy

Thanks Aitor! A highly recommended experience if you want to connect with nature and, above all, with the land; schedules are respected, and Joseba, with whom you share in the garden, always explains any questions you may have! It has been a pleasure to be part of this project.

Aitor was very kind and the communication was good. However, I think it's important to mention that the overall state of cleanliness and maintenance of the place was quite below what I expected and affected my experience. I hope this aspect can improve for future stays.

My experience was quite different from what I expected.. When I arrived, it seemed the host had forgotten my arrival, which meant everything started off in a disorganized way. The place was in conditions that made it difficult for people to inhabit. And I didn't feel comfortable staying there. The communication with Aitor was quite distant and unclear, which made it difficult to generate an atmosphere of trust or integration, especially being alone. The surroundings are quite isolated and it's something to consider before applying, it can create a feeling of loneliness if you look for a shared experience..

Aitor is always on the lookout to make sure you lack nothing: clean bed linens, blankets, a cozy room, the washing of dirty clothes, daily groceries, etc., etc. Joseba is in charge of the tasks in the garden and greenhouses; he shares his knowledge (which is a lot) with admirable simplicity and patience, he clarifies any doubt or question you may have with a lot of patience and courtesy. In short, I leave knowing many things I didn't even know. All that, plus the fact that you are surrounded by nature and fresh air.
