I loved living in Madaras and helping in the guest house, the place truly started to feel like home. George and Adelina were really nice and made sure we were comfortable. First it was a little hard to communicate because of the language barrier but we learned a way to understand eachother. George took us to lot of places outside of Madaras and we got to see a lot. I will never forget about this experience and the people I met, forever grateful!

We had a wonderful time in Satu Mare/Mădăras with Gheorghe and Adelina. They are wonderful hosts and northern Romania is an interesting and beautiful place to stay. The work was predominantly working around the guesthouse and helping Gheroghe. We enjoyed learning about Romanian culture and trying the local food!

My volunteering period at the guest house was incredible — a truly immersive experience in the Romanian countryside, with a strong connection to the local culture. Gheorghe and Adelina were always willing to help and made sure nothing was ever missing. The room was very comfortable, and the tasks were quite flexible. I genuinely recommend this volunteering opportunity to anyone looking for an immersive experience away from big cities and who wants to develop new skills.

I had a really good time at Gheorghe and Adelinas place. Adelina Always Made sure I had enough food and Gheorghe Took me to the city to explore. They made sure I was very comfortable.
There's lots of different things to do for work and even tho madaras is a small village I went for a lot of walks in the surroundings. It's a very calm place with super friendly people, nice if you want to see authentic Romania😊

My experience with George and Adelina was great. They picked me up at the bus station and made me feel welcome. George was very patient and the traditional food was delicious. The place is peaceful and cozy. They also took the time to show me around the city. I was especially grateful for their kindness when I had a skin problem; they were willing to pay for a dermatologist appointment for me. I am very thankful to both for such an excellent experience. Highly recommended.

I built walls in the garden and installed windows. I mainly did hands-on construction and maintenance work, which was not exactly what was described in the original listing. However, I enjoy working with my hands and doing practical work, so I didn't mind at all. Gheorghe was very kind, helpful, and accommodating. Overall, I really enjoyed my time there and was happy to put my practical skills to good use.

The tasks varies a lot and usually involve carrying stuff so sometimes it gets physically tiring. Also there's no fixed schedule at all. We just stay behind the host waiting for his requests. The host (Gheorghe) barely speaks english so it's really hard to communicate with him, due to that sometimes it gets also mentally tiring. The place is in Madaras, a really tiny town and there's nothing to see or to do, so I'd recommend to someone who wanna just get disconnected. Adelina (Gheorghe's wife) speaks great english and is very kind. She doesn't live in the same place tho.

We especially want to highlight the kindness of George and Adelina, who taught us so much about Romanian culture and hidden gems. Although we had to cut our stay short, we left with wonderful memories and immense gratitude for their hospitality.
