Program Details
Shade Children Foundation is a children’s project based in Thika, Kenya. We currently provide 31 children with a safe and loving home at Shade House.
The home is managed daily by a dedicated manager and social worker, caring house mothers, and a night watchman who ensures the children’s safety.
Children come to us for many different reasons. Some are orphans, some have been rescued from unsafe or harmful households, and others have been entrusted to our care by parents who do not have the financial means to support them. Whatever their story may be, we welcome every child with open arms.
At Shade House, the children receive three healthy meals a day, access to school and university education, psychological support, and, most importantly, the love and security of a large Shade family.
There is so much more to Shade House than these few lines can express. Please send us a message if you would like to learn more about our work, our children, and how you can support us.
Activities & Shift
As mentioned before, the children already have dedicated caregivers looking after them, whether volunteers are present or not. We believe that time is the most valuable gift anyone can give, and by choosing to spend your time with our children, you are already making a meaningful difference.
We offer a variety of activities for volunteers to enjoy with the children. You can teach English, cook together, get creative with arts and crafts, dance, sing, play football, accompany the children to school, or even support us with our social media.
We also love new ideas and encourage volunteers to share their own talents and interests. Whether you have a hobby, skill, or activity you are passionate about, we would be delighted for you to introduce it to the children. Every person brings something unique, and we believe those shared experiences create lasting memories for both our children and our volunteers.
