Program Details
Our farm is family-owned, it has a small plantation of coffee, jocotes and avocado; the coffee we harvest is sold to local buyers, and we also perform the drying, roasting and grinding processes for family consumption. The coffee harvest season starts in December and ends in mid-February; the jocote is harvested in September and October.
Activities & Shift
The activity consists of collecting ripe coffee fruits (as long as it's harvest season); the small farm is located about 20 minutes from the lodging house, so we must take a short walk to reach it. In the summer (October to June) the ground becomes quite dry, so we recommend using tall shoes; if you don't have any, we can lend you some. If you enjoy mountain hiking, you will enjoy the journey while you admire the volcanoes Fuego, Acatenango, and Agua.
In addition to the work activities, we occasionally organize tours to ascend the Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes.
As it is a family project, we usually have 1 to 2 volunteers at most.
