Volunteering at Rebetiko hotel was an amazing experience. Sima and her family are so kind and generous. The food cooked by Fatma abla is delicious. The work is easy, we helped with the breakfast and cleaning the rooms/common area. The hotel is perfectly located in the city center and we had plenty of time to visitthe hotel with the other volunteers.

Rebetiko was my first Worldpackers experience, I stayed there for 3 weeks, and I cried when it was time to leave🥹First couple of days were difficult, since most staff don't speak english and you're kinda figuring everything out on your own, but I was lucky enough to meet another volunteers who spoke turkish and english, and even a girl who spoke my native language. I had 2 types of shifts - room- or kitchen cleaning, working hours were always respected. Be prepared - it's a real work. Food was amazing, 3 times a day + fruits and drinks. You truly feel like at home. Hope to be back one day❤️

It was my first time volunteering abroad and it went even better than I expected! Rebetiko is forever in my heart as the home far away from home❤️‍🩹 I already miss all hotel's team, this people are so kind, fair and welcoming. There wasn't ANY day during my month stay on which I was left hungry or made to work more than I have to. The work is not that hard, you just need to get used to it (I did waitress job and cleaned kitchen or rooms). The food is delicious, atmosphere is pleasant! The only disadvantage is too tiny room but it is nothing compared to emotions you get and people you meet🫶🏼

I had such a nice time here! As mentioned in other reviews, most of the workers do not speak much English. However everyone is very kind and welcoming. You will probably pick up some Turkish. Google translate is super helpful, I recommend getting your data through Vodafone instead of Turk Telekom for better internet access. You will work hard but in exchange you get to eat an amazing breakfast every morning. The beach is pretty close by bus. You should visit the rock cliffs next to Cleopatra beach. Working hours are generally respected, if you don't want to do extra you can say no.

This was my first Worldpackers experience and it has given me high expectations! Sima and her family are lovely people and all the staff are amazing and helpful. There's a bit of an adjustment period where you figure everything out but you can always ask questions! Working hours are respected, meals are delicious, and the surrounding community is so much fun. I would recommend this to travelers looking to get off the beaten path and be a small, but important, part of something bigger. Thank you Rebetiko!

This was my first Worldpackers experience, and I'm so grateful it was here. Everyone made me feel welcome from the very beginning. The hosts and staff were incredibly kind, and even with translation apps, communication was never a problem. I loved the beautiful sea views, sunsets, and the convenient location. But what made this experience truly special were the people. These two weeks passed so quickly, and Ayvalık has already become a small home to me. Thank you for everything. I will miss this place and everyone here very much. I hope to come back one day ❤️

Being here showed me the true meaning of "actions speak louder than words" because even though there wasn't much communication other than through google translator, they made me feel welcome and cared for. The work was a bit demanding because they were preparing for the high season, but nothing out of the ordinary. We shared breakfast every morning, they prepared dinner, and I could have fruit or coffee if I wanted. It was a pleasure to have met Sima, Bala, Mehmet (2), and Melek (quite a character). I would love to return if life gives me the opportunity.

The family is amazing. It's such a nice place, and they are always warm and welcoming. The place is beautiful, and I had amazing food every day. The language barrier was a bit difficult for me and definitely a challenge, and the work is hard, but they completely respect the agreed working shifts.

My stay at Rebetiko was my first Worldpackers experience. It's a family-run hotel in the heart of Ayvalık, and it was truly unforgettable. I'm grateful for the chance to live in such a warm, charming town and meet the amazing Rebetiko family. They genuinely value and respect their volunteers—you can ask them anything without hesitation, and the work hours are always respected. The memories I made with them, I will always cherish.

Such a lovely little city with a lot of opportunities to do other activities, like taking the bus to Izmir or Cunda Island or even the ferry to Greece. The hotel is charming. I had access to the kitchen 24/7 and could do my own stuff if I wanted to. The work is first breakfast service and then housekeeping. I think it's more personal preferences, but I have to say that the housekeeping really exhausted me, so be aware of this. What is also a challenging is the language barrier, it was communicated beforehand, but irl it's kinda difficult. Still the hosts try to make you the best stay❤️
