Phonepet and his family are great host. They are welcoming and friendly, food was divers and tasty. The project is simple, practising English with the children from the community. Kids are easy going and respectful. There are not many hours actually teaching but it's spread throughout the day and it can feel long as the school is away from the homestay. Overall I had a great time and would definitely come back if I pass by there again.

This was my first volunteering gig! Phonephet and his family are absolute gems. So warm and welcoming and made me feel very at home. The work is straightforward around the Homestay and when it comes to teaching it's structured and you're then also given a lot of opportunity to make the classes and teachings your own. The kids are so lovely, enthusiastic and an absolute joy to teach. I was lucky enough to get there as the new school year was starting. The meals are delicious!!! Having family dinners, playing cards and a few drinks. I really can't recommend enough!

Living with Phonephet's family at the guest house Bungalow was an amazing experience! Phonephet and his wife, Pouk, are so kind and their two girls are adorable. The work is minimal, we did watering in the morning and around 5:30pm, only if it didn't rain (which it did a lot). We played with the kids and taught local children English, which was a very rewarding experience! The homestead is a very welcoming environment - perfect for experiencing local culture and living the slow, island life. My only warning is that the kids may let themselves into your room and play with your belongings haha

I would definitely recommend this volunteer position. The work is light and very manageable. Teaching the children English on the weekends was truly a pleasure. They were always happy and excited to learn. The place is very relaxing with plenty of hammocks and a gorgeous view of the river. Definitely bring a good book as cell service isn't a guarantee. I truly enjoyed connecting with nature and the locals during my time here.

Had a great time volunteering for Phonephet. Enjoyed lots of free time to chill, read, and check out the island. I told him I have experience in construction and then mainly did small construction projects for him, I enjoyed getting to build again.

A wonderful two-week experience as a couple. We felt very welcome in Phone Phet's family. The meals were truly excellent. We were able to participate in a wide variety of tasks. We taught English to Phone Phet's family during the week and to the village children on weekends. Despite all this, the work remained relaxed, we never worked more than two hours. In our free time, we could cycle on the island, swim in the Mekong River, or simply relax in the many hammocks available.
We 100% recommend this experience; it will remain a wonderful memory, and we can't wait to go back!

A peaceful and relaxing way to spend your time volunteering and disconnecting! The daily workload is just a couple of hours, with the time fluctuating depending on the day. It varies from English lessons to students in the local community, which are simple and self-guided, to harvesting peanuts or picking up trash along the beach. The host family's two young daughters, the guest house and Emma, are so sweet and are always eager to learn and play with you! Each day has beautiful sunsets and sunrises and there are lots of hammocks for you to relax in! There is no wifi so bring your favorite book!

We had a lovely week at the guest house! Our main responsibilities included teaching English classes to the friendly children and teenagers from the village, but we also could help to pick peanuts. We had a lot of down time here to slow down, read, lay in hammocks, or swim in the river :) Everyone was so kind & welcoming- from Phonephet and his family to all of the other volunteers :) The view of the river (& especially the guest house each night) is unbeatable:) I highly recommend that you spend some time here!!
