PROJECT DESCRIPTION (The "Manifesto")
WHAT IS CULTURA DEL MONTE? We are not a hostel; we are a Field University. Located on the Amazonian piedmont (Caquetá), we are transforming a traditional cattle ranch into a model of Regenerative Ranching (PRV) and Sintropía Agroforestry.
Here you don't come just to "cut grass"; you come to understand how the cycles of carbon, water and soil work. We are part of the Andean Regeneration Network. If you're looking for party or conventional tourism, this is not your place. If you want to dirty your hands to heal the land, we are waiting for you.
YOUR MISSION (MAIN ACTIVITIES) Activities vary according to weather and project phase, but your role will be active in:
🌱 Agroforestry and Nurseries (Sintropía): Reproduction of native seeds, filling bags, planting trees in grazing lines, biomass management and pruning.
🐄 Regenerative Livestock Ranching: Support in the daily movement of the cattle, management of movable electric fences, water checks and data collection on pastures.
🔨 Bio-Infrastructure: Support in the maintenance of water systems (hydraulics).
🚜 General Maintenance: of crops and care of spaces. Work in existing cultivation systems. Work with chickens
Activities & Shift
Will be agreed upon at the start of the volunteer experience
Rules
COMMUNITY LIFE (Coexistence Agreements)
To make the system work, we are all crew on this ship. Living together is based on autonomy and collaboration:
🍳 Food: The kitchen is at your disposal.
🧹 Common Areas: Cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen and rest areas is everyone's responsibility. We maintain order as part of our daily discipline.
🤫 Sanctuary of Silence: We are in an active biological corridor. The noise (loud music, shouting) scares away the fauna we protect. We value silence and the deep connection with nature.
Schedules: In the tropics the day starts early. We begin work with the sun to take advantage of the cool morning.
WHAT WE OFFER
Accommodation: Shared room (subject to availability) or camping area (you must bring your own tent).
Food: We provide basic provisions for preparing your meals; if you have specific diets, there is a nearby town where you can buy extras (vegetables, fish, chicken, etc.). Food from the town can be ordered.
Connection: Rural satellite internet available in common areas by schedule.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Stay: 2 weeks so you really learn the routine.
Attitude: Proactive. We do not wait to be told what to do; if we see something dirty, we clean it.
Resistance: The climate is tropical humid. There is mud, insects, rain and strong sun. You need rubber boots and good physical condition.
