This was truly the best experience of my life. Working with spider monkeys and jaguars felt like a dream, and it was impossible not to fall completely in love with the animals and their unique personalities. Living in the jungle can be challenging — the heat, mosquitoes and dirt are definitely part of it — but every bit of it was worth it. Andres and Milla are wonderful people who genuinely care about the animals, the volunteers and our safety. I'm so grateful I got to become part of the shelter family. I left with a full heart, unforgettable memories and a hope to return one day. Vale! ❤️

I had a beautiful and immersive time at the shelter. Warmly welcomed into the family, started working with the animals immediately and absolutely love them. I stayed an extra week, I probably still wouldn't have left if I did have other things booked in. We ate well, had a beautiful jungle house to myself (this would vary depending on volunteer numbers), and stayed fit walking the tracks. Enjoyed the journey to get there, stunning landscapes. Great to meet other travelers from all over as well 🐾🐆 until next time, ¡Vale! ❤️🌴

The shelter is an incredible place. The work that Andrés and Milla do is so genuine and important. It's the jungle, so don't expect luxury (but that should be obvious…) If you're serious about protecting animals and taking part in their rehabilitation then this place is for you. An experience I'll never forget and am forever grateful for. I would love to come back one day soon. Love you guys 🫶🏻

The shelter was an amazing experience! The team really cares about the animals and nature. You can see how much love and hard work they put into the project. The place is simple but comfortable. I recommend bringing a warm blanket and a camping mat for extra comfort. If you are Deaf or have a disability, don't be afraid to volunteer. Keep an open mind, communicate your needs, and do your best. Everyone can contribute in different ways. I really enjoyed my time here and highly recommend this experience.

Helping at the shelter was such a amazing experience that I got to share with so many likeminded individuals! The beauty of the property stunned me on a daily basis - heavy rain or shine. The tasks were often varied and I enjoyed learning how to use a machete almost as much as feeding the animals. Adjusting to the jungle is part of this experience as well and I'd say unless you have bowels of steel you can expect some irregularities in that department lol

My experience at the shelter was a really great time to disconnect from my phone and experience the simple beauty of living in the jungle. I really have enjoyed working with the spider monkeys and learning about them, and we all complete tasks collaboratively. I also made some really great friendships and had great laughs. Much of the tasks is cleaning cages, prepping food and feeding, as well as cutting enrichment to bring into the cages. You also help prepare meals for other volunteers from time to time. It’s a quite beautiful area and I enjoyed my day off to hang in Rurrenabaque.

Living and working in the jungle to help rehabilitate the shelter has been an unforgettable experience both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Every day is spent alongside a dedicated team, caring for animals that have rescued. Watching them recover and regain their natural behaviors is truly heartwarming. The bond formed with both the animals and the team creates a sense of purpose and family that makes the hard work worth it. The living conditions definitely aren't a 5 star hotel. Just be prepared to be throw in it.
