This has been a great experience, I really feel grateful for this time at the Tío Hostal. It's been a great balance between work, rest, visiting local gorgeous natural areas, meeting new people, both locals and guests. I highly recommend this experience to everyone.

It was unforgettable. From day one, the lodge and the aunts made us feel part of their family. The tasks were always clear, organized and within the schedules. Thanks to the lodge's recommendations and indications, we could learn more about the local culture, the festivities and the surroundings. We shared conversations, laughs, meals and experiences with the lodge's family as well as with the other travelers and foreigners who were arriving.

I recommend this hostel for travelers as well as volunteers. I spent a few weeks happy and grateful for this beautiful experience. I learned about the local culture, about its foods, about its celebrations, about its culture, and about La Paz, which you experience by being there surrounded by so much nature, waking up to the crowing of roosters and collecting the eggs from the chickens; for me, it is priceless. I loved this place, Uncle José, his wife, and their children are all such wonderful people. You will feel how life is lived without stress, without hurry, in complete calm and peace. It is a privilege to be there. I think I will return next year.

I spent almost 10 days at Tío Hostal, and I think the hardest part is leaving, haha. From the very first moment, you are welcomed with a lot of warmth and kindness by Uncle and Aunt. The place is beautiful, with many adorable animals; you learn about their culture, you share unique moments together, and you really come to feel like part of the family.

The tasks vary and sometimes they can be physical, but they are always carried out with good spirits, and you truly feel useful. There are many hiking trails in the surroundings, and the family’s schedules and advice allow you to enjoy them to the fullest.

The accommodation was an incredible experience. My immersion in Spanish helped me learn the language quickly, and José and his family were very generous and welcoming. The work varied by day (for example, practicing languages with José's daughter, social media marketing, cleaning and planting on the property, helping with hostel tasks) but it was really a wonderful time spent learning and sharing with José and his family, the animals, and the guests as well. I hope to return soon!!

No I did not like at all the energy of the place; nor did I feel respected.
The relationship with the host has been cold.
I worked for 3 days and he only gave me breakfast and one meal when the agreement was breakfast and lunch every working day.
NOT SUITABLE FOR VEGANS/VEGETARIANS. I stated from the very start that I was vegetarian and they served me meat soup without telling me it was cooked with meat; I realized it because I found a piece of cartilage in the soup; at no time did they apologize and they called me disrespectful for getting up from the table and not eating.
The only good thing is the nature of the place.
