The Experience

Hello! We're currently the only operating hostel in downtown Austin, TX. We've been open for 12 years and hosted tens of thousands of guests from all around the world. We'd love for you to come join the team for a few weeks or months. Our building hosts up to 65 guests in a mix of private and dorm rooms. We have a small kitchen/common area, a popular onsite bar, and a great location. Reach out with any questions or to inquire about work/stay.

I had an absolute blast volunteering at the hostel, the work and hours were reasonable and left me with plenty of time to explore Austin. The location is perfect, literally right off 6th street which is an experience. The hostel also had a secret speakeasy bar where we also get a discount at. Thanks for having me the hostel family, Melissa, Rara, Howie, Greta, Howie, Keli and Jess, you're all incredible and made my time here. I look forward to visiting again in the future! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒🚒🚨

Kaz’s upbeat personality made everyone’s day! You can always count her to lighten the mood whenever the Hostel became chaotic! She also did a little bit of everything, whether it’d be night shift, housekeeping, and projects! We can’t wait to have her bubbly personality again in October!

After staying in this Hostel as a guest in 2022 I jumped at the opportunity to workstay here with WP My role was mainly organising and attending social events at the Hostel. I also worked on the reception with check ins, admin, and house keeping. The training was above and beyond from Manager Howie! The Workstays each sleep in different dorms which works well IMO to interact with the guests. The area is great it's lively with bars on 6st, a speakeasy below the hostel (which can be loud). There is great BBQ spots and lots of nature walks especially along the river to swim.

Rara is a boss! We hired her to lead social events and she elevated it to levels we couldn’t imagine! She was always there for the guests looking to enjoy the festivities Austin offers and she delivered. Besides that, she occasionally jumped on reception, housekeeping, or odd projects which showed her versatility. She went beyond our expectations and we miss her greatly 🫶

The hostel is the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience Austin fully. the hostel has its own bar which you get discount at downstairs. You are roomed with the guests so get the opportunity to meet new people to explore with and there is an events chat where you can plan events with guests. The management team have been great and super helpful when it comes to training and offer a flexible rota. I have really enjoyed my time at the hostel and aim to come back in the future. Melissa is really Ms. Everything. I could rely on her with any task at hand, whether it be reception, cleaning, or any odd hostel project. In many ways, she really was a de facto Assistant GM as I referred all workstay to her guidance if management wasn’t available. On top of her work ethic, she was so warm and welcoming. She really pushed me to raise my level of work and reminded me that Hostel life is really about community. Yes, a bit cheesy, but we will miss her 🥰
