My first volunteering experience and it has been a life changing one. I am immensely grateful to Chiara, Sharna and Ale for everything that they're doing. They were so welcoming and genuine towards all volunteers, shared dinners truly felt like family gatherings. What they are doing for animals is above and beyond, rescuing and providing a happy home is their priority and passion. The love and care that they have is so inspiring and fills me with hope. I will definitely be coming back and can't wait to see how happy the animals will be at the new land ❤️ Thank you for the wonderful 5 weeks!

This was my first time volunteering and I'm so grateful that I got to do it here. From the moment I arrived, I felt so welcomed and comfortable. Chiara, Sharna and Ale are the most incredible hosts. What they do for the animals is truly inspiring. You get into the routine super fast. About 2 hours of work in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, with plenty of free time in between. Dinners were provided and groceries were supplied for us to make breakfast and lunch. I miss it so much already!! (please give kaju a cuddle from me)

Take the experience! the shelter can be demanding, looking after all the beautiful animals that Chiara, Sharna Alejandro run but that's the cost of looking after the animals who needed rescuing from the abusive systems we have in our society, the beauties now deserve all the care and fresh veggies and protein they get and our help. Everything on worldpacker page was as described and everything communicated and schedules given to make it easier. Mamma makes yummy Italian dinners! Chiara was very understanding when plans changed my side to help accommodate and help with my allergies <3

Volunteering at the shelter is something I will always remember. The work itself is farm-life: feeding, cleaning, restocking, preparing food etc but it is the getting to know the animals, the bond with the animals that makes it such an incredible experience. Chiara, Sharna and Ale are amazing hosts, who work so incredibly hard for the well being and happiness of the animals, and I admire them a lot. The workload was great too. 2 shifts per day of 2-2.5 hours, with plenty of time in between to rest or go out and explore, or to cuddle with the animals at the house. Amazing experience!

My experience at Project the shelter overall was so meaningful and beautiful, Chiara, Ale and Sharna are such lovely people who truly care about what they do and love the animals dearly. It was a pleasure working with like minded people who have created such a beautiful place where animals are safe from harm and flooded with love and care. Other than a little extra with mirtillos feeding in the morning, all other daily tasks were as expected and off hours were respected. The work was so enjoyable, I miss running up the hill to feed the goats, and cuddling with the animals already! All my love Amy xx

This is the first volunteering my partner and I have done and it's now the one we'll come back too all the time! Getting to know the animals and the people, it's close to coimbra so you can explore the town, mirtillo our sweet roommate and the work is so lovely. I can't even describe how much I miss all the animals, it hurt so bad to leave we stayed longer!! Chiara, Sharna and Ale are all the most amazing people who are all so inspiring, the work they do for the animals is so amazing. The new land is so so beautiful too, I cannot wait to see what the new routine and volunteer setup is like!!

This was my first time Worldpacking and it was the most amazing and fulfilling experience! The project is led by wonderful people who go beyond and above in everthing they do. I learned so many valuable lessons here that I will carry into the rest of my life. The animals all have different colourful personalities and were so much fun to be around - the volunteer house even comes in with a little pig that doubles as an alarm clock 🐖. There is plenty of free time during the day to explore or relax, but honestly the best times were spent at the shelter ❤️ I can't recommend it enough 🫶

This was my first WorldPacker experience and I couldn’t find a better one! You’ll will have the opportunity to be really useful and take care of wonderful animals. You’ll have time to connect with them (they are all so sweet).
You’ll also meet wonderful and powerful women. Chiara and Sharna and all the other women coming to help are truly inspiring. They are big sisters figures to me.

The tasks are divers so you will never get bored. You have free time in the middle of the day to explore around or chill or study. The work hours are respected and not heavy.
