The Workawayer would stay in our home and have a private bedroom, with a bathroom shared with us. You can see photos of the room here. Because we share our home, I really value trust, respect, clear communication and a good atmosphere. I like expectations to be clear from the beginning, so house rules, boundaries and the general arrangement would always be agreed beforehand.
One important thing from the beginning: our home is completely alcohol-free and smoke-free. Zero alcohol, zero smoking — think fresh air, clear heads and good energy instead. 🙂
For me, normal things like cleaning up after yourself, leave the bathroom fresh, helping to keep common areas clean, or generally taking care of the space are simply part of living together respectfully. I don’t really see that as Workaway help — it is just part of sharing a home, and of course we do the same. At home we have a list of tasks and it is very clear what everyone does.
On the practical side, there are always little projects around the house, and I would love someone who enjoys fixing, painting, improving and finding practical solutions. It could be painting a wall or a piece of furniture, hanging things, repairing something small, helping with maintenance, preparing a space, organising an area that needs attention or giving me a hand with small renovation projects.
The other profile that really interests me is someone who works seriously with AI — not just someone who uses ChatGPT occasionally, but someone with real professional knowledge who can help me understand, organise and improve how I use Artificial Intelligence in my projects and work. If AI, automation, digital systems or advanced tech is genuinely your field, that could also be a very valuable exchange for us.
Activities & Shift
Workaway volunteers can expect to be treated with the utmost respect and care. Alba Balada values each volunteer's contributions and ensures a welcoming and supportive environment. Volunteers will be provided with comfortable accommodations, healthy meals will be negotiated, and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the peaceful surroundings of the yoga retreat. Alba believes in open communication and will work closely with volunteers to ensure they feel valued and appreciated. In return for their hard work, volunteers will also have the chance to participate in yoga sessions and experience the calm, nurturing atmosphere of the campus.
The experience is not only about work. We are happy to spend time together, practise languages, attend all the yoga classes, meditate with me, hike, walk, go out... meet new people and exchange cultures, while also giving each other enough independence and personal space.
